1- New Jersey Nets - Brandon Roy SG 6'6'' 215 22 Washington B B+ B- B- C B
Roy isn’t the clear cut No. 1 pick this year but certainly makes a solid case based on his starting ratings. I believe if he had ‘A’ potential to start he’d probably be a more definitive lock to go first overall. As of now, there’s a good shot that Noah can contend for the top spot in the draft or get a possible franchise cornerstone in Roy.
2- Houston Rockets - Joakim Noah C 6'11'' 232 21 Florida B- C C B+ B+ A
Noah is the best big man in this draft by far and should be in strong consideration for the No. 1 pick. Florida’s former big man can rebound and play defense with some of the best bigs in BBS already and his offense is developing as well. Noah is easily expected to be a 15/13/3 type big in his prime.
3- Houston Rockets (via DET) - Rajon Rondo PG 6'1'' 171 20 Kentucky B- C B- B+ C A
As the strongest point guard in the draft pool, Rondo is another player that could be considered to be the top pick in the draft. Within two to three years, Rondo could be a top 10 point guard in the league and one day be the best floor general in BBS. For now, he falls to No. 3 in a draft in which Roy and Noah are considered bigger commodities.
4- Golden State Warriors - LaMarcus Aldridge PF 6'11'' 240 21 Texas B C C- B- C+ A
Unlike Noah, Aldridge’s offensive game is a little more polished but is not very good defensively and is really below average when it comes to rebounding. He’ll be a double digit threat nightly though if he can develop his rebounding and some more defense to go along with slew of offensive moves.
5- Chicago Bulls - Rudy Gay SF 6'9'' 220 20 UConn B- C+ C- B C A
Gay probably won’t be a player you can be around but certainly is someone that can help a contending team in time. His smooth game translates well to a small forward spot and he will be able to put some solid numbers at some point. His offensive game is pretty balanced and maybe one day he can be a second or third option for a club.
6- Philadelphia 76ers - Andrea Bargnani PF 7'0'' 225 Italy 20 B- B C C C A
Bargnani is all offense and nothing more coming into the league right now. He reminds some of Mehmet Okur when he came into the league but Barganani probably won’t be able to refine his defense and rebounding to emulate Okur’s output. Look for Barganani to be a nice sixth man type in his first few years of the league.
7- Portland Trail Blazers (via MEM) - Tyrus Thomas PF 6'9'' 215 20 LSU B- C- D+ B- C+ A
As a tremendous leaper and athlete, Thomas is a prototypical forward that needs to add weight in order to compete against stronger power forwards. Thomas will make his mark in the league with his shotblocking and rebounding abilities since his offense is still raw. Yet, Thomas is only 20 and has some time to maybe be a decent power forward in a deep class of big men.
8- Dallas Mavericks - Ronnie Brewer SF 6'7'' 220 21 Florida B- C C B C- A
Brewer has good size to play the two or three in the BBS and his frame will allow him to guard smaller players as well as stronger forwards in the league. His offense still needs some work but it certainly has the potential to get better and maybe even become a starter in the future. For now, Brewer will be relegated to coming off the bench for a team unless he blows up in training camp.
9- Los Angeles Lakers - Paul Millsap PF 6'8'' 245 21 Louisiana Tech B- C D B- B B
Millsap is a relentless worker on the boards and will contend for every missed shot. Although he’s another undersized power forward, Millsap uses his size and frame very well and is very strong on the block. Millsap like Aldridge, could be a consistent double-double guy every night on the right team.
10- Toronto Raptors (via WAS) - Shannon Brown PG 6'4'' 205 20 Michigan St. B- C C B- C A
Brown is the epitome of a great young combo guard that really needs time to develop. On the surface, Brown looks like a strong project to mold into a starter someday. Brown is a great leaper and quick defender and has the ability to be groomed into a shooting guard with the right development.
11- Los Angeles Clippers - Daniel Gibson PG 6'2'' 190 20 Texas C A- C C D A
Gibson is the fastest Longhorn to enter the BBS draft since TJ Ford three seasons ago. His combination of quickness and speed will be devastating for any backcourt defender. His defense and ball handling is still very raw, but Gibson’s shooting ability will get him drafted somewhere in the lottery.
12- Charlotte Bobcats - J.J. Redick SG 6'4'' 190 22 Duke C A- C- C D A
Redick is a hell of a shooter and will earn his paycheck on the BBS level doing just that. He will not be able to do much else though unless some GM really dedicates time in developing him. For now, some team might have to take a chance on a shooter of Redick’s caliber since he is so developed in that area already.
13- Los Angeles Clippers (via CLE) - Thabo Sefolosha SF 6'5'' 215 22 Switzerland C+ C B- A- C B
Sefolosha is the perfect complimentary player for any team looking for a playmaker and lockdown defender. Sefolosha plays smart and could possibly become a poor man’s Shane Battier with less offense and more playmaking ability. If Sefolosha is RC’d properly, he could one day move into a starting role.
14- Portland Trail Blazers - Randy Foye SG 6'4'' 210 23 Villanova B- B- C+ C+ C- B
Foye’s offensive game is certainly there in terms of getting to the basket and finishing as well as hitting long jumpers and creating his own shot. Foye is also a decent ball handler and defender and will get his share of rebounds. However, Foye doesn’t do anything particularly well enough to get him drafted higher.
15- Toronto Raptors - Adam Morrison SF 6'8'' 205 22 Gonzaga C+ B+ C C D A
Next to Redick and Gibson, Morrison has the sweetest outside stroke in this year’s draft lottery. Morrison was a big time scorer in college and can score inside and out but will still be deficient on the defensive end and when it comes to rebounding. Look for one team to take a chance on Ammo somewhere in the middle of the first round.
