I prefer lcd's personally I recently got a 46inch samsumg with a free blu ray player. On sale for a g. Its a good time to buy tv's. A lot of deals out there. You might have the one my parents just bought. It's really nice. Also, to guys knocking the "LED" TV's, my buddy had one and I thought it was much better than normal LCD or Plasma. Have you guys watched one and disagree or are you just going by the spec's and what you've heard?

I never knocked LEDs. Did you even read what I said? LED is more energy efficient, brighter, and has produced darker blacks and colors than ever before accomplished on an LCD TV, but still falls short of a Plasma, unless you reach into the very higher level LED TVs, which is clearly not where Spencer is targeting. I'd be willing to bet I've seen more LED technology in use than you have, so I don't know what you're attempting to say.
I mean, I went into detail what plasma does and how it does it better than LCD in most cases (especially in Spencer's price range) so I don't know how else to go about it. So far you've said, "Get LED. LED is better plain and simple. I've watched my friend's LED and it's better." I'm sorry, but it's not so cut and dry. You wouldn't have this new push of LCDs with the strong new marketing if it wasn't for the advances of Plasma TVs. LCD has to work very hard when it comes to bigger size televisions because not only has Plasma been consistently cheaper, but has been better as well. LCDs will always rule the computer monitor market, and LEDs are awesome for them, but so far, unless you're shelling out big time bucks for an LED TV, they still don't produce the quality picture Plasma does for the overall value of what you spend. In Spencer's price range, it'd be foolish to go with anything but a 52''+ plasma.

I really don't understand why you have to jump on the defensive every time someone questions something. Once again I guess I'm clearly in the wrong for not realizing that you know everything.

Jeff, have you ever been in a debate or a conversation with two opposing sides in real life or do you just cry about it when people defend their position?
Must be nice to deflect a fucking topic at hand with, "I GUESS I SHOULD KNOW THAT YOU KNOW EVERYTHING." When all you've done this thread is either A) look like a fool for calling marty a dumbass when he was right B) Make a statement like "LEDs are better plain and simple" when every fact out there directly contradicts the fact that it is in no way plain and simple.

Jesus fucking christ, what is wrong with you? Let's go over the facts here... 1. I called Marty a dumb ass because he tried to correct me, but I actually meant LED not LCD. 2. In my opinion LED is better. That is from personal experience. Maybe I'm wrong but I've seen very large top quality 50"+ Plasmas and top quality 40"+ LED's and I thought the LED was significantly better. 3. I asked a simple question about whether you've actually seen very nice LED's or if you were just going by the general spec's. No debate, no question of whether or not Spencer should buy one. I don't understand why you are completely unable to follow this. I'm also not sure why you feel the need to constantly go into this crazy fucking defensive mode whenever somebody questions you (which if you could fucking read I never really did).

I'm also done debating the merits of the TV's with you. I'm glad that you and Marty agree that plasma is better, however I am positive that I am not alone in thinking LED is better. If Spencer is dead set on getting a 50"+ TV then he'd probably get better value in plasma, but if he is willing to sacrifice size I think LED has a better quality picture.

And a 1700-2000 LED TV still does not match a Plasma.
