Were buying a new TV for Christmas. We saved up about 2600 to put towards it. We dont want to spend it all, but we do need a new TV stand to go with the new TV. Id rather spend about 2000 total, TV+stand. Any ideas, suggestions?

and do you want a wall mount or stand? there are really good tv stands for relatively cheap (150-300) and mounts are cheap as well

lol at the marketing ploy by samsung calling their new line of tvs LED tvs.. it's not really "LED" it;s still an lcd illuminated by led lights either on the perimeter or on the back. While yes it does enable tvs to produce deeper blacks if the LEDs are located on the back and uses less power than normal LCD they also are not as thing as LCDs and also sometimes cost twice as much for a much less size. There's no reason why anyone needs to be spending 2,000 on anything less than 50"

LED is better, plain and simple. How are they not really LED's? That doesn't even make sense. IF you want a really nice TV then yes, they can be more than $2000. I'd much rather have a slightly smaller TV with great quality as opposed to a bigger TV with poorer quality.

i didn't mean to say samsung is the only one with the marketing ploy but in a market where tv pricing plummeting and sales down they thought by making certain tvs and market them as "LEDS" would have consumers interested in this and apparently it has with people like yourself.
they are not LED tvs, it's an LCD with different lighting... it's like if I went and called an LCD a CFFL tv because of the lighting it used it makes no sense.
LED is better plain and simple? how? what specs on that 46" LED surpass the 50" plasma i linked to besides probably that the led one runs at 160hz i think i saw?
Plasmas are cheaper and better than most LCDs at producing blacks. There only knock is still that at certanin angles, plasmas become unvieweable but at a size of 50" i really doubt that will be aproblem with spencers situation
