Pros:
-Excellent rebounder
-Has a nose for the ball
-Gifted athlete for a big man
-Nice explosion
-Willing to make the hustle play
-Doesn't shy from contact
-Good defender
-Impressive physical attributes
-Nice strength
-Can finish around the rim
-Decent hands
-Above average shot blocker
-Gets on the offensive glass
-Good Wingspan
-Has shown the ability to run the floor
-Wide frame
-Not bad positional defender
-Workable mechanics
Cons:
-Poor FT shooter
-Hasn't shown much offensive ability
-Lacking back to basket game
-Doesn't look comfortable with the ball in his hands
-Lacks aggressiveness in the post
-No real midrange game
-Needs to cut down on silly mistakes
-Looks out of place in the halfcourt
-Must learn to give consistent effort
Overall:
Alex has plenty of tools to become a factor at the next level. He is a good athlete with ability to play from the start. It's very unlikely that he will ever be relevant on the offensive end, but if he has any potential at all he could be a game changer both on the glass and on the defensive side of the ball. His body is ready to go, but his mind is in question. With ratings like to start out, if he has potential he could be scary, but regardless Alex Ariakhi should be a nice late lotto/mid round selection.
