Strengths: Enes Kanter is not the prototypical Euro big man. He is savvy and skilled, but nonetheless a bit of a bruiser. He scores very well down low despite lacking athleticism. He has, however, developed a very solid midrange game, and is the rare Euro big who can score both inside and out. Kanter is exceptionally strong, and despite the lack of hops, he is an excellent rebounder. Expect double digits from day one. He plays very solid defense for his age. Decent shotblocker, too.
Weaknesses: Kanter will struggle adjusting the level of competition in BBS. He won't be able to overpower savvy, quick big men, as in BBS, they're often his equal in strength. He can't put the ball on the floor at all and turnovers will be a problem. He has good post moves and footwork, but will need to execute them more quickly if they're to serve him any good in BBS. Outside of the shotblocking, he will get embarrassed by more athletic bigs early in his career.
Overall: Kanter is a very solid center prospect. Worst case scenario, he'll rebound, play decent defense and hit his free throws. Best case scenario, the strength and skill translate to the BBS level and he is a very good starting center. Kanter isn't the next Marc Gasol, but he could be a solid double-double guy with a couple of blocks a night. Expect low field goal percentages and frustrating turnovers early in his career.
Draft Projection: Mid to late lotto
