Florida State
Rookie Ratings
B- C+ C- C+ C A
Strengths
Singleton has a nice combination of size, length and athleticism, and has dunked on some of the best of them. He's got nice form on his jump shot, and could prove to be a competent range shooter at the next level. Shows flashes of passing ability. What's most impressive is his collegiate steal/block numbers, averaging 2.0 and 1.5 respectively over 71 games. Decent on the defensive glass.
Weaknesses
Lacks any reliable post moves and has only average strength for his size; shies away from contact. Though he does have range on his jumper, his shot selection is atrocious. Singleton is also a very shaky FT shooter. He has iffy handles (especially with his left hand) and can be a turnover whore because he tries to do too much. Defensively, he's looking to get steals or blocks and that's about it. His offensive rebounding totals at FSU were very poor.
Outlook
Given his size and skill set, it's tough to project Singleton's pro position/role. It's debatable. What's also debatable is how many of his deficiencies can be blamed on the anemic offensive talent around him at FSU. Some scouts feel that he is a bit more polished than his offensive stat line may indicate. What's certain, is that his inside game is based solely on explosiveness and big dunks, and that his FT shooting is inconsistent to say the least. While being an older prospect will hurt his stock, he should land somewhere in the late lotto/mid teens based on his inside/outside and defensive play-making potential.
