Strength's
Selby is a scoring machine that at the high school level no one could match. Very similar to ex-Arizona guard Jerryd Bayless in that he's a scoring point guard or a sparkplug scoring machine at the two-guard spot.
Great slasher who can attack the rim with his quickness and ability to take contact within the paint. A very impressive leaper that has made him a youtube sensation.
Creates hiw own shot fairly well and is great at getting seperation from his on-ball defender.
His quickness is almost unmatched by any player his age.
Weakness
Selby is torn in terms of a set position. While he's a great leaper and very quick he will struggle against the bigger shoot guards due to his small frame. He also isn't the greatest ball distrubutor out there for a point guard at the pro level.
While he's a great scorer and someone who can create for himself he can tend to shoot too much and build a house out of bricks if isn't watched over carefully on a cold streak.
Is also turn over prone as he tries to create that fancy play instead of making the simple one.
Scout's Take
Lets be clear. Selby has a shot to be a very special player in BBS and should he get a chance to grow and improve he could be one of the better players in the 2011 class.
Selby's ability to create his own shot and attack the room will not go un-noticed as he can come into the league and score right away. He certainly will be one of the better dunkers in the league right away.
The risk you are taking is that he has that 'me first' attitude and doesn't work with the team and develop his game.
But his ability to score and score in bunches while being a better-than-expected defender will make him well worth the risk.
