Name: Derrick Favors
College: Georgia Tech
Class: Sophomore
Height: 6-10
Weight: 245
Age: 20
Position: Power Forward
Other Positions: Center
Ratings: B- D+ D C+ B A
Pros:
Derrick Favors reminds many of an explosive workout warrior from the 1995 draft, Kevin Garnett. Favors is an athletic monster. He has a tremendously gifted skill set, and is one of the better prospects to come out. He has a unique combination of power and quickness as well. Holding a 9-1 wingspan, he is definitely the type of player scouts look for. He has an amazing rebounding ability. Defintely the best of this class. He is also a shot blocking monster, averaging a mean 5 blocks per game in High School. He is also known for his mean alley oops and strong put backs.
Cons:
Favors does not have much range outside of 15 feet. He does not have a pro ready offensive skill set as well. He will struggle handling the ball, and should not be the focal point of anyones team. He looks raw on the defensive end as well, but should improve as he shows potential with his 9-1 wingspan. He will also be a coaches nightmare, as he will show defensive lapses and play solely for himself at times.
Overall:
Favors is without a doubt a top 3 prospect in this draft. He has shown amazing flashes throughout his basketball career, and will make an impact at the next level. The question will be when can he make the impact. Offensively raw, but ready on the rebounds, it will be interesting to see how quickly he will make an impact.
Projection: Top 3 Pick
Best Case Scenario: A- C- D A- A B
More Likely: A- C- D B A B
