Position: PF
Height: 6'9"
Weight: 240
Birthdate: March 14th, 1989
College: Kentucky
Strengths:
Patterson is an efficient post player , though he doesnt have the greatest athleticism he is a strong player, with the ability to score in a variety of ways. Though a bit undersized at a generously listed 6'9, Patterson has a nice wing span, which helps his decent shotblocking, helps him guard taller players, and assists in his rebounding. He is a very nice rebounder, especially on the glass, and is great at putting the ball back in the hoop. Patterson actually has decent Range, shooting 70% from the FT line, and even extending out to the three point line, where he shot 35% on nearly 2 attempts per game. Patterson also is excellent at taking care of the ball.
Weaknesses:
Patterson is an older player entering the league and while his game is nice, his athleticism may hold him back some from being a great player. Not a great defender, and Patterson can be a bit tentative on offense, deferring to other players rather than look for his scoring opportunities. Scouts question his overall outside game as it translates to the NBA, they arent sure if he will be able to get his shot over defenders, and the three point line is obviously further out, making it seem as though while he can shoot the three in College, at the BBS level, that three point percentage translates to a poorer midrange percentage. His Defense leaves a bit to be desired, as he tends to get beat in the post, and, due to his lack of overall quickness he could be a player who gets in foul trouble
Outlook:
Patterson is a probable mid to late lotto selection and should be a player who plays better than he looks, and does the dirty work for a team off the bench. In time he could be a star, given the right circumstances, but, more likely he will bee a glue guy, starting at the 4 and giving you a line of around 15 11 and 2 blocks a game.
