Name: Armon Johnson
College: Nevada
Class: Junior
Height: 6-3
Weight: 190
Age: 21
Position: Point Guard
Other Positions: Shooting Guard
Ratings: C+ C+ B- C+ D B
Pros:
Armon Johnson is a point guard with excellent size and strength, kind of in the Jason Kidd mold. He is a very quick, athletic player, and was also known as Luke Babbit's side kick at Nevada. He was an excellent scorer in college, averaging 15.7 points per contest. He is also a very underrated ball handler, as he has the vision to find open teammates for the basket. He is very talented at driving the ball to the hole. Armon is flying up the draft boards after seeing some of his clutch performances at Reno.
Cons:
He is good, not great, at passing. Some consider him a score first type point guard. He needs to cut down on his mistakes, as his 3.4 turnovers per game brings a red flag to scouts. Opposing defenders will clog the lane and force Armon to shoot the 3 ball. He is very streaky from behind the ark. He needs to use his size as an advantage on defense, and should be a lot better in the passing lanes.
Overall:
Armon is a score first type point guard, and that might kill him at the next level. He is a tweener, too short to play shooting guard, but too much of a me first player to play point guard. He is very athletic, which will benefit him at the next level. Overall, Armon has been flying up draft boards, and is looking from being an undrafted rookie to now being drafted in the first round.
