Name: Larry Sanders
College: VCU
Class: Junior
Height: 6-10
Weight: 222
Age: 21
Position: Power Forward
Other Positions: Center
Ratings: C+ D D- B+ B- B
Pros:
Larry Sanders is a long, athletic, explosive forward who has been polishing his game at VCU. His length and athleticism help him dominate the boards, averaging a mean 9 rebounds per game in only 27 minutes. He was one of the most exciting players in all of college basketball last season. Maybe the best part of his arsenal is his shot-blocking ability, averaging an outstanding 2.6 blocks per game. All in all, he will dominate the defensive end early.
Cons:
Larry has a very unpolished post game. He gets most scores on dunks, and that won't help him in the NBA. Teams will keep him out of the post and make him shoot. He has no outside touch as well. He is also very skinny, and will need to stay in the gym and grab some strength. Worst of all, he cannot handle the rock at all. He will just rack up turnovers for any time he is on the offensive end. This kid needs to grow some hands. He won't surprise anyone on the offensive end early in his career.
Overall:
Larry is a rare big man who has length, hops, quickness, and athleticism. The only part of his game really missing is his post game. He has improved since his freshman year, and only looks to get better at the next level. For teams looking for a project, they will look at Sanders, and I see him getting picked late in the first round. As long as he keeps working, he has the potential to have a nice career as a 4th starter or consistent role player.
Projected: Mid-Late First Round
Best Case Scenario: B D D A- A- C
More Likely: B- D D A- B B
