Victor Claver
6'10
218 lbs
Forward
B C+ D+ C C A
Pros: For someone of his size, he can really move quickly. He has the ability to create his own shot on the perimeter, and has range that extends out to the BBS three point line. However, his meal ticket in the big league will be finishing around the rim. He can get to the rim and flush it down on anyone that tries to get in his way, and he can contort his body to finish all kinds of circus shots. Has a knack for finding seams in the defense, no matter how tight he's being played, he will slip through and get to the hole.
Cons: He has range and can get his own shot against most defenders, but his stroke isn't really consistent, especially his mid-range game. Claver really needs to learn how to take care of the ball, as he is highly turnover prone, and he's not much of a passer either. Once he makes up his mind to penetrate, no one else is likely to receive the ball. We mentioned that he likes to finish with circus shots, but that means that Claver doesn't like to absorb contact, or rather, his skinny frame can't, so he won't be drawing many fouls. Not being able to get to the line or stick the mid-range jumper consistently will seriously hinder his effectiveness on offense. He's not much of a defender either, often getting burnt on the perimeter or bullied down on the block. Don't expect him to box out for rebounds either, he loves to leak out for that nice cherry picked dunk.
Overall: This guy should be a pretty good offensive player, but he's probably better off playing small forward full time so he can focus on his jumper and ball handling. Probably won't ever be a really good defender, but he might be passable if coaches are willing to spend some time on that area of his game.
