Rodrigue Beaubois
PG
6’2 182 LB
Guadeloupe (France)
21 years old
Draft Ratings: B B- C B C B
Strengths: An electrifying guard from the small French island of Guadeloupe, Rodrigue Beaubois is one of the more intriguing and athletic foreign specimens to come into the league in some time. Beaubois has amazing quickness, especially with the ball in his hands and can crossover players at will. His small frame allows him to jackknife through defenses and push the break faster than most point guards already in the league. He is a good shooter from behind the arc and will regularly lead his team in 3-pointers made. Beaubois is also an incredible leaper and finisher above the rim as he is able to catch and finish alley-oops with the best athletes at the BBS level. Thanks to his long arms and great instincts, Beaubois is very good in getting in the passing lanes, which will lead to many steals and turnovers.
Weaknesses: Beaubois is not very strong in terms of bulk and will get pushed around by bigger guards. His frame is about average at point guard but will still be able to be posted up on. His mid-range game is not very good right now and while he does finish well at the rim, he could improve in that category as well. The biggest concern with Beaubois is his ball handling, which is not at a level most GMs would like. He will probably have turnovers early in his career which hurts his value and ceiling.
Outlook: As of now, Beaubois looks like a mid-1st round pick with a possibility of sneaking into the lottery with good combine notes. He reminds many BBS personnel of Leandro Barbosa, who has a similar skill set and has had a successful career in Atlanta.
