Strengths
Rubio is a crafty, pure point guard with good size for his position, a high Basketball IQ and a ton of confidence. His greatest offensive talents lie in his ability to change gears and his use of slick little hesitation moves. He also has range out to the pro 3pt line. As a distributor, Ricky has a fairly complete skill set. He excels due to a combination of court vision, decision making and unselfishness. He is able to create for teammates with either hand and delivers crisp, on target passes consistently. Defensively, Rubio is starting to become a better defender on the ball, and has also started to rack up a good amount of steals.
Weaknesses
Because of his very average athleticism and explosiveness, Rubio might have trouble finishing against pro defenders. He will also need a lot of work on his jumper, which is a bit hitchy, especially when trying to shoot off the dribble. Rubio sometimes tries to do too much, which has effected his turnover numbers in international play, but this may rectify itself in BBS when he has more talent around him to rely on. As I said, he's gotten better defensively, but I expect him to get torched fairly frequently early on as he adjusts to guarding players that are much quicker than him. Not a strong rebounder...
Outlook
He is an extremely coachable player, who has a great chance to reach his fullest potential in the pros. While he may only ever be an average offensive player, his value lies in his potential to be a top pro floor general who can play solid defense.
