Kevin Love
Forward/Center
6'10"
260
UCLA
Rookie Ratings
B C+ C C B A
Strengths
Love's offensive skill set and basketball IQ has scouts, coaches and GMs drooling. He can play with his back to, or facing the basket--finishing either with authority, or with the soft touch of a guard. He is a consistent FT shooter with range out to and beyond the 3pt line. He's a solid passer and should be one of the better passing big men throughout his career. He knows how to use his wide body to command position for rebounds and excels on both ends of the court in this department.
Weaknesses
His lack of athleticism will hinder him, especially defensively. Because of his size, he's decent in the post, but struggles in all other areas. Even though he's 6'10" he doesn't have the long arms to disrupt passing lanes, and his lack of length and instincts will make him a well below average shot blocker. Also, his lack of speed will limit him as a help defender, and might lead to needless fouls against quicker pro bigs.
Outlook
As a pro, Love's inside/outside offensive game coupled with his strong rebounding ability will make him a double-double threat every night. It's not a stretch to bank on him being at least a 20/10 player, and if that potential kicks in in the right places, 22 and 12 might be very attainable. He's definitely a gamer, however, even at his size, he could definitely stand to get stronger and bigger--he has the frame to do so. With conditioning, he defense could improve, but I wouldn't count on him ever being more than an average positional defender who doesn't block shots.
