North Carolina State
Rookie Ratings

Strengths
The best thing Hickson has going for him is his brute strength. He's a great finisher who can absorb contact in the paint and still score; should shoot for good percentages because of this. He'll probably get to the line quite a bit as well. Has nice hands and a long wingspan. Has a pretty good handle for a big and isn't a threat to turn the ball over much. Due to his strength, He's shown some shot blocking and rebounding ability in college, though he'll have to work on these facets of his game in the pros.
Weaknesses
JJ doesn't have the kind of range on his jumper that teams look for in a big these days. He'll be lucky to shoot 70% from the line as a rookie and his three point shot is non-existent. Possesses very little passing ability. Defensively, he can block a few shots as I said, but he doesn't have a complete skill set in this department. His lack of speed will probably make it tough to guard quicker power forwards and might lead to unnecessary fouls.
Outlook
The difference between being an scoring threat off the bench, and a pro starter lies solely in his potential. Aside from scoring in the paint, he's got a lot of work to do on every other aspect of his game. A good starting point would be getting in better shape, as the workload of guarding pro bigs will definitely wear him down and make him less effective on the offensive end.
