The Nuggets and Heat will meet again in the BBS finals
Aaron: Fact. Hard to argue at this point.
Who knows how, but the Heat are the most efficient team I've ever seen in a sim league. Their uptempo offense works brilliantly because they pretty much have every necessary ingredient for it to thrive. Three awesome outside shooters. Five low turnover starters, five good passers, and shotblocking. Now, they rebound pathetically, but they bring their opponents down with them, and force 6 more turnovers than they give up a game. They dominate the possession game, and allow below 94 PPG. Never seen a team combine their strengths so perfectly. Manas is overcoming some real weaknesses, too; his bigs can't score or rebound. At this point, I don't think anyone in the East has enough man power to touch the Heat.
The Nuggets, meanwhile, dominate offensively, and are even better than last year thanks to much-improved depth. I think they face a tougher course than the Heat do, but with the Jazz and Thunder struggling, they remain the clear favorites in the West. The Lakers have nice inside scoring, but Steve Nash and Andre Iguodala will get dominated by AI and Stackhouse. The Spurs, similarly, can't hope to beat the Nuggets with Joe Johnson and Tayshaun Prince on Stackhouse and Kobe. Nice team, but they're outclassed.
Nanz: Fact
The Heat are a better this year than last year. The added Meka to an already good front court and Xue is a very nice backup. Their turnovers are incredibly low at 8 per game while forcing 14, that is sick.
Skillz: FICTION
I could see one of those teams making the finals again but I find it unlikely that both will. The Heat, while they are off to an unbelievable start, aren't as talented as their record indicates. I still maintain that the Magic will represent the Eastern conference in the finals because they have the pieces to make additions to get better and have 2 of the best players in the league.
The Nuggets are also a tough call. I think they are a great team and probably the favorite out West, but I don't think they are the most complete. If JAH ever decides to make an effort to compete, I think the Spurs can give them problems. I also think the Thunder have championship potential if they can get their DC straight.
Tiger does enough to deserve his spot in BBS
Aaron: Fiction
Big time. When was the last time he had a trade block? Has he ever been proactive in free agency? The draft? Writing articles? Posting? No. Tiger sits on his team, makes occasional, lateral moves, and then posts in the sim thread. Not a deserving member at all. Duncan is wasting away like anyone could've guessed. Tiger is impossible to deal with, too. Overall, he's wasting a spot for another guy who could add personality or activity to the league. The Cavs are purgatory for talented players. They could win 50 games this year in a bad East, but Tiger is old JAH taken to an extreme. He's made one trade in the last month -- for Jacque Vaughn. Lame.
Nanz: Fiction
Tiger is a good cat, the bees knees but he hasn't done much with his team in a very long time. Timmy is pretty much being wasted there and since winning the title (15 years ago lol) the Cavs have been irrelevant. It seems like Tiger has been stuck between rebuilding and contending. He has never taken the time to find the right trade for timmy to allow him to move on and rebuild or find the right trades to make him a contender. He has some pieces to work with around timmy he just needs to make up his mind on what direction he wants to go in and stick with it.... If he's not gonna be active enough to do that, we have solid GMs waiting (anybody but Andrew lol )
Skillz: FICTION
As of now, no. This is not a shot at Tiger because I believe he is a top 5-10 GM when he has enough time, but he isn't doing anything right now to indicate that he should stay in BBS. He isn't very active and he's had the same team forever. Trade someone, do something! TD has wasted away his entire career on the Cavs and Cleveland has been a fringe playoff team at best.
In two seasons, Dwight Howard will be the best big man in BBS.
Aaron: Fact
Howard's the most valuable asset in the league. He's made a huge step forward this year and now it's just a matter of time. I'm guessing everyone who gives Insane shit is just joking, but how many years have we been in sim leagues now? You have to know that he's 20, A-/A/A with A potential, it's not a guessing game. He's got 3 ACs left, and will likely be the recipient of every post pad reward Insane gets from here on out. No chance he's ever better than Gerald Wallace though.
Nanz: Fact
To me this is pretty easy and there is no reason to believe otherwise. Look at his ratings! A- inside A defense and A rebounding with A potential and 20 years old? Holy shit that is just disturbing. Sure his percentages are awful right now and he hasn't been able to block the amount of shots we were all expecting but again, he is 20 years old in his 3rd year. His points rebounds and blocks per game have been getting better every year and so have his percentages, the man is a beast. There is no reason to believe that he is not going to continue to improve and develop into the best big man in the league.
Skillz-FACT
Dwight is going to be insane. It doesn't matter that he can't play now, because he has 15 years of 28/12/3 block seasons ahead of him. Trust me. It's clear that he was loaded with strength, jumping, etc. and had no real skill when he came out of the draft. Here's the good news: skill attributes improve over time, athletic attributes don't. Dwight already has the athleticism, and with his potential, his skills will catchup soon. He might be the most valuable player in the league soon....I really believe that.
A GM shouldn't be considered a top 5 GM if he hasn't won a title in this version
Aaron: Fact.
We're more than 15 seasons in, and I don't think you can consider yourself a top-5 GM if you go 15 seasons between championships. (What does that say about me? ). It's not a coincidence that Mark, Outlawz, and Nanz have won in this version. I think there are guys who haven't won who are among the best GMs in BBS, but there's nothing more indicative than results, obviously, and if you haven't won in 15 years, you need to get back on top or you go down in the GM rankings. This is only tangentially related, but right now, I don't think any GM stands apart from the competition, since Outlawz hasn't been able to put his team over the top and Mark has no time for BBS. We'll see if Nanz can string together a few championships here. We all probably feel like I'm one of the best GMs here, and I gotta say, I agree. Just look at my performance so far.
Skillz: FICTION
In most cases, I'd say fact, but I don't know....this is a tough one. I used to be under the impression that titles meant everything but there have been so many fluky titles over the last year or so that now I am not so sure. I think sustained success is more difficult than winning a title. This is definitely a tough one though. I won 2 in the last BBS and haven't won any in this version even though I think i've done a better job here. The quality of the GM pool could also affect this.
Nanz- Fiction
I think this mostly applies to new GMs rather than the ones that have been around for a long time. We all know who the top GMs in the league are and we all know what the ones who haven't won are capable of doing. Rings are important but its something we should look at later on, towards the end of this version of the league rather than now.
All things considered, Play is good for the league
Aaron: Fact
Of course he is. His complaining is brutal, but he's one of the best members of BBS. Great GM, and he posts a lot. He's best buds with Andy and Insane and they like to post so that's good. CC is lying about having sex, getting blown, being a person, etc. Not sure what I'm getting at here . Play cracked me up when he was complaining that Bargnani "busted" and he wanted to quit over it. WTF! He definitely kicked my ass in the Simmons for Jameer and Donta deal, but who cares. Why isn't my team better? We should be better.
Skillz: FACT
I think his shtick is funny, though I don't always know when he's joking. He's done an underrated job in this BBS, top 5 gm. Play has to STFU sometimes though.
Nanz: Fact
LOL awk is this a question? Of course Play is good for the league. He is one of the most active GM's in the league and also one of the best. Sure he complains a lot but most of the time he is joking and Spence knows that. Play is one of my favorite Gms here and we're gonna have a good time december
Spence should do more to prevent tanking
Aaron: Fact
It's sort of the reality of BBS. At the end of the day, the best GMs do the best jobs, so if pretty much everyone is allowed to generally dump their talent in bad trades and pretty much make crummy DCs, it's not like it's a big deal that teams tank. But there a really basic things that could just prevent teams from making a joke of a competitive league. Why do we allow teams to sign any awful FA and trade him for a talented player? Or worthless 2nds for talented players? These are unfair trades, and tanking teams shouldn't just be allowed to rid their teams of talent. I'd veto any deal by a tanking team that objectively does not benefit their future prospects outside of making their team immediately worse. So if you're not losing a bad contract or acquiring assets, you can't just deal your highest scorer for absolutely nothing of value. Seems easy enough to me. Spence gets on some guys for DCs, and again, the shitty GMs still have trouble ever doing much, so it's not like tanking is a free ticket to a contender.
Skillz: FICTION
All of the tanking whining is nonsense. As long as everyone has the same advantages, there shouldn't be a problem. It only becomes a problem if rulings are inconsistent, which they haven't been. My only complaint would be that drafts should be slightly more unpredictable to discourage tanking. How about a top 3 bust? Drafts generally have the same formula from year to year which i don't think should be the case.
Nanz: Factish
Eh i think this is a tough one. I think he does need to do something about it but there is a fine line between doing too much and too little. We all discussed the idea of changing the CY idea to make it tougher to tank but nothing concrete come from it. Most people complain about DC's and the amount of players you have at a position because there is no rule on how many players you need at a position but spence already looks into that to some degree maybe not as much as people would like. This is probably gonna lead into modifying the CY rule and have some sort of goal for the 3rd year rather than putting it off until the 4th. OR Maybe now that CC has a girlfriend she can tell him to stop tanking all the time and all of this can go away.
The Nuggets are facing a tough off-season with Kobe and the rest of the team being possible FAs while AI and Stack are getting up there in age. This is the off-season the Nuggets should tear down their team.
Aaron: Fiction
No way. Everyone seems to think age 31 or 32 is like the death of a player and you need to rebuild when your vets reach that age. That, or they panic and think guys won't have value at 33. You can always rebuild, and if I had a contender, I'd never give up on a team I thought had a legitimate chance to win that year just because I'm afraid of my guys losing value. What sense does that make? Try to win for as many years possible; rebuilding isn't hard, and there are always CY-type teams that need to add talent. AI, Kobe, Elisma and Stackhouse have plenty of years left before they run out of value. Nanz, who wrote this question because he's a doucher, has plenty of years left with an awesome core. He should be worrying about managing to keep depth and staying under the Hard Cap, not about dismantling a great core. Fuck this shit. If he didn't get some fluke ass lotto luck, I would've won a title last year. This whole league is bullshit.
Nanz: Fiction
This could easily be the last year we make a run before breaking up the trio. AI, Stack and Kobe are getting older and there is gonna be a point when we are gonna need to trade these guys for value rather than wait for them to age but it doesn't have to be this year. Eddie is our big time FA and he needs to come back but other than that the rest is just depth. We are also gonna be close to the HC so its gonna be tough to keep this team together but it is definitely possible. Nobody seems to be slowing down, AI is still the best player in the league and stack is still putting up crazy numbers. If we are able to win again this year its gonna make it tougher to break up the team but if the right deals are there, i'll take them.
Skillz: FACT
I don't see how the Nuggets could keep their team how it is. I'd give it one more title run this year and then retool (don't rebuild). I'd trade Stack for value when you can in the offseason and then try to get a bunch of awesome youngish pieces for AI and Kobe. If Nanz plays his cards right, he should be able to establish a core that could win 50+ games for a long time if he lines up the right deals for Kobe and AI. I don't see how he could keep both and surround his team with enough talent.
Nanz: Fiction

The lakers seem to be a lock to make the playoffs this year and make their CY year. Looking ahead to next year, do you think the Styro will be fired once again?
Aaron: Fiction
Styro will be fine, but I think he's going to have to deal his pick this year. Re-signing a 34 year-old Mash will really suck, and he better hope Mash doesn't regress. He also turned a top-3 pick into probably a mid-lotto, which was dumb, because he's not going to make the playoffs. Styro will need a big FA signing, or he'll need to package expirings and picks for starters at the 2 and 4. I think Styro ruined what could have been an amazing core with the Mashburn signing, because it will eat his cap and lower his pick, and had he landed a stud like Durant, he might have been able to get through the CY on his youth alone, and from there, who's stopping that trio? That said, he's not going to have a problem winning 40 next year.
Nanz: Fiction
This time i think he is fine lol. He's got a a great piece to work with in CP3 and also a very good young player in Noah. He actually has a pretty good team this year with Mash but at 6-18 it might be tough. He also has his pick this year and can add a nice chip to trade for a solid vet. He is gonna be fine this year and if it comes down to it he can trade me CP3 in the off-season for some of my studs
Skillz: FACT
Styro has done a horrible job but he has Paul and Noah. I can't imagine anyone being so incompetent that they can't win 42 games with that core. Then again, he did trade for a 33 year old expiring Mashburn in the middle of a rebuilding year.
HeatFlash should get the next team.
Aaron: Fact
Of course. HeatFlash should be the Cavs GM. It'd make the league much better instantly. He's one of the most active guys in the league, and I think it's a good thing to get younger guys in the league. They're generally more active, especially in trading. I think it would only be a good thing for BBS. HF isn't a great GM, but he's young, so he deserves the chance to improve as he goes. The bottom of the league can always keep it down in things like the draft, FA, and posting, and I think we know HF would be on top of all those things. I'd like to see him get the next team.
Nanz: Fact
I don't think he got a fair shot last time he was in the league and was fired too soon. At this point he has earned the right to be the next GM to take over a team without question. He is very active right now without even having a team, he seems to be getting along with everyone and he is a better Gm now than the last time he was here. I don't see how anyone else is more deserving of team right now than him and we should look to replace some of the less active GMs in the league right now rather than wait for someone to get CY'd.
