Michigan would've gotten destroyed by Wisconsin.

it's all good though... we should be really good next year, even if DW doesn't come back.

I can sympathize with MSU complaining about being penalized for being in the BigTen championship game. I'm one of the few UM students who isn't going to be all "MSU HAS TEARS THAT TASTE LIKE SUGAR." Neither Michigan or VT really belong in this game. Michigan isn't a top 10 team, VT isn't even close (in terms of win loss, VT was one of the luckiest teams in the country. Also, the ACC is awful). There were some iffy calls no doubt. The last kick for Michigan could have been a false start. I'm not sure that the VT overtime TD catch should have been overturned, but I do think that ultimately that's not a catch. Regardless, both teams had ample opportunity to win this game, and neither really did anything to seize that opportunity.
Regardless of all that, I'm proud of these Michigan seniors, many of whom came in the same year as me, and have seen some of the worst times at Michigan. They deserve to end their careers with their heads held high, and I'm just glad I got the opportunity to watch them develop up close the way they have.

Michigan looked less like a top 10 team than Virginia Tech.
Michigan was pretty damn lucky in some instances, but at the end of the day, the mistakes we made cost us this game. Fake punt at midfield in the 4th quarter when Michigan's offense was doing next to nothing is inexcusable. Put them at the field position disadvantage and get the ball back to win the game.

Fake punt at midfield in the 4th quarter when Michigan's offense was doing next to nothing is inexcusable. Put them at the field position disadvantage and get the ball back to win the game. Neither is a top 10 team. VT looked better than UM today, and well, pretty much anyone who doesn't give up big plays to Denard is going to look better than UM at this point (see Iowa and MSU). That has had a lot to do with play calling, and you'll find a decent amount of Michigan fans complaining about the job Al Borges did today drawing up the offense. There was also that Denard pass down the seam that got barely tipped at the line which would have surely been a 60 yard touchdown, so it's not like VT was the only team that had some potentially big plays not go their way. Still, UMs defense is pretty solid at this point. They've given up some yards all year, but they've been dominant in third and short as well as the red zone all season long. Michigan's been among the best in the country at causing turnovers, so while VT was shooting themselves in the foot to some extent, Michigan has established a track record of causing opponents to seemingly do that. All in all though, I'd agree, VT easily could have (or should have) won this game. At the end of the day though, it's just a regression to the mean, as they've been incredibly lucky to have 11 wins at this point. The stats say they're one of the 10 most overachieving teams in the country this year.

Really don't see how Virginia Tech is lucky to have 11 wins. Yes, they're a weak 11 win team (so is Michigan), but given their schedule, 11 wins wasn't a massive over-achievement at all.
Wasn't insinuating that I consider either a top 10 team. I just wasn't very impressed with Michigan today. Given how poorly we defended Clemson's spread offense, especially in the ACC title game, I thought Michigan would give us more fits. There were alot of doubts on whether Tech could contain Michigan's team speed. Those questions were answered. To hold them under 200 yards of total offense isn't a small feat.
Also, just because you mentioned it earlier, I must chime in; there's no way Coale's TD catch should have been overturned. Replays showed no signs of indisputable evidence. I honestly think it was a catch to begin with, though.
Congrats on the win, pretty sick turnaround for your program.

Michigan didn't have a super tough schedule by any stretch of the imagination However they did only play one team with a losing record and they won that game by 58

just watched the "catch" in the Va Tech game, I woulda called the same thing the officials did, that ball clearly hits the ground and that ball moved all the way until it hit the ground, I have 0 doubt in my mind thats not a catch, on the other hand, that was clearly an illegal motion on the Michigan Kicker before the Game winning FG.
The other part is, you got stuck with Jay Stricherz crew...a crew where pretty much every fan in the Pac 12 cringes when they see him working the game...hes awful
