Rudy Fernandez
SG
6'6 185
Spain
22 years old
Draft Ratings: B- B C+ C D+ B
Strengths: Ultra-versatile Spanish swingman Rudy Fernandez has declared his intention to enter the BBS. His game has had BBS brass excited for his combination of athleticism and craftiness. Scouts love Fernandez's ability to get his teammates involved in the game with his tremendous court vision and on point dishes for assists. In addition, Fernandez is an exceptional perimeter shooter, espicially excelling from behind the three point line. His long arms also allow Fernandez to get into the passing lanes and also get some spectacular blocks in the lane. Perhaps the most exhillirating part of Fernandez's gameplay is his vertical leap where he easily finishes above the rim and with style and flair. He also has the speed and quickness to beat several guards and forwards off the ball and to the rack. Fernandez is also a very good free throw shooter as he does not expect to miss many throughout the course of a season.
Weaknesses: Fernandez has not interest whatsoever in playing any man to man defense despite being a strong help side defender. He will get burned by stronger players and quicker guards even though he has the quickness to keep up with them. Fernandez is also a very poor rebounder for a guard and will not crash the boards with any regularity. Also, many that have followed Fernandez's career believe his potential is maxed out and may not have a lot of room to get better at the BBS level.
Outlook: Fernandez should be a top 20 pick with the possibility of his draft stock rising based on the combine notes. His perceived upside will dictate a lot of where he lands between picks 12 and 20.
