Rajon Rondo - 19 years old - 6'1 171 lbs - B- C B- B+ C A
Strengths
Rajon Rondo is one of the longest, fastest, and most athletic guards ever to enter BBS. He has a chance to be a triple-double threat. A very smart decision maker, Rondo knows how to get to the rim, rebounds exceptionally well, can probably be an elite defender from day 1, and won't make many mistakes. He is unafraid to attack big men. He finds the cutter ten times out of ten. He can finish from both sides and adjusts very well to defensive rotations. Steals the ball without taking gambles.
Weaknesses
Shooting. Rajon Rondo can't shoot. At all. He's a miserable free throw shooter, as erratic as a bad big man. He has a hitch in his pull-up, making his jump shot a line drive with little accuracy. Shoots from the side of his head a bit.
Rondo also needs to improve his ballhandling a bit. He is fast with the ball and doesn't take risks, but he is a bit stationary with the ball in the half-court, and could stand to work on a crossover.
Overall
Rondo is one of the best and most unique prospects to enter BBS in awhile. He won't have the immediate impact of Deron Williams or Chris Paul, because his game is less polished and he can't score on his jumper. However, he could be as good as either guy; he projects to be a superior defender and rebounder, and his ability at the basket is as good as it gets. A very good passer who has an array of deceptive moves once he picks up his dribble, Rondo should be all drive and dish for his first few years in the league. His jump shot, awful as it may be, is still worth investing in long-term, because Rondo has all the potential to be dominant everywhere else. Definitely a triple-double threat down the line.
Projected Draft Spot:
1-3. Depending on team need, Rondo could be a top pick as a franchise point guard.
