Pros: Most things about Martell Webster scream "solid". He has solid size to compete at the highest level, solid athleticism that will allow him to keep up with the freaks, a solid understanding of the game that means he will make smart decisions on the court and not turn the ball over, and a solid work ethic and hunger to get better. His best attribute is his stroke, an absolute moonball of a shot, Martell mesmerizes the whole arena when he launches that thing. If you play him for the 3-ball, Martell is going by you and getting to the cup without hesitation, so he's not a one dimensional offensive player.
Cons: At this point, Martell is a bad defender, both man-to-man and team defending need to improve. He's also got a severe case of tunnel vision or just a lack of court vision, once he gets the ball, he's either attacking or reversing it, he won't be putting his teammates into a position to score. His rebounding is passable, but someone of his stature should be grabbing more boards than he is now. When he gets the ball, you know he'll be putting up a trey or driving, there is no middle ground for him, Martell doesn't understand what midrange means.
Overall: Seems like a solid rotation player, he needs to improve his defense drastically if he hopes to be a good starter. His offensive game is good, but he isn't dynamic enough to be a main offensive option on a good team. If he never improves his D, he will get picked up by teams just to be their shooter, though. Scouts are concerned with Martell being an older prospect, he might have reached his ceiling already.
