Pros: As far as post moves go, it's hard to find anything coming into the league much better than what Gasol has right now. Probably give his footwork an A+, he's quite nimble for someone of his size and he loves to face up and attack the hoop with his superior quickness. Is able to knock down the midrange jumper and make free throws better than some guards, and possesses crafty passing skills. For a center, he has a lot of guard skills, making him a very versatile and effective player, whether it be in the high post, low post, or even on the wing spotting up for the trey at times.
Cons: Seriously needs to bulk up if he wants to be competitive at the center position. May be actually more suited to playing the 4 at the next level. Sometimes seems disinterested on defense. Has long arms so he will be able to block and contest shots, but doesn't really have the instincts to play great post defense. Often shies away from physical contact and physical players in general give him a tough time. Doesn't like to get his nose dirty and go after rebounds, though he will box out and hope for the ball to come to him.
Overall: Looking like a franchise player at this point, scouts love his potential. Has an NBA ready athleticism and skill set for a big guy and a good motor. Should be a top 3 pick, no question about that.
