College: Redd set Freshman records at Ohio State for points, scoring average, free throws, three pointers, and steals, and was the second fastest Buckeye too 1000 points....only behind Jerry Lucas.
Pro's: Excellent at getting off his shot and creating opportunites to score. Redd is a crafty scorer, with a great midrange game and and a solid three point shot despite a non textbook shooting form. Redd has the ability to get inside and score. Redd has an excellent work ethic, and is very coachable. While he will turn the ball over like all players, Redd is relatively protective of the ball, he won't be a turnover whore. Redd is active without the ball trying to get open so that he can find a shot. Also is good at earning trips to the charity stripe. Has good size for a Shooting Guard at 6'6".
Cons: As said before, average athleticism, which while he is able to overcome on offense, does hurt him on defense. Redd is a poor defender, and not much of a steals guy, will be beat by quicker or stronger guards. Though he has the size to possibly play SF, his rebounding and strength will prevent him from being overly effective. Injury Prone as well, regardless of work ethic, if you are injured you can't play or improve. Not a great passer, he can find teammates, but for the most part prefers to create for himself.
Outlook: With the right training Redd could be a star in BBS. He will be a scorer, however, the questions on defense could hold him back from being a championship caliber player. His average athleticism isn't as big of a problem at the college level, but in the NBA could result in more difficulty creating his own shot, and the obvious struggles on the defensive end. While there are no doubts that Redd is a top 10 pick if not top 5 as he should become a deadly scorer, his true potential value lies in how he develops the rest of his game.
