1) Where does Maurice Cheeks rank among the league's point guards?
eh, I'm not a big fan. He is a good, not great, starter. Magic, Money, isiah and mrr would be my top 4. And you have the stud scorers who I love – mengelt, foots, glenn, dureod. I think Cheeks is on a level with Gus Williams, fryer, ainge, sichting, dantoni and mccarter.
2) If you could proceed with any player in the league as your centerpiece, who would it be?
Uh, is the a real question? Magic and Bird may cause matchup problems but mj is so good that he has his own rules. Imagine if he had a gm that would ac him. We would all be struggling to compete with the Hawks for the next 10 or so years.
3) Who is currently the best big man in BBS?
Seems that there were a lot of bigs that busted as draft picks and there have been older ones who have declined. I think that Tree is the best big. One of the few bigs who I would trust to take shots. He hits over 90% from the line. He also rebounds and blocks shots. Relatively low tos. He might not be on the level of the superstar bigs from a few years ago but he is the best big around today.
4) Who is the most overrated player in BBS?
Darryl Dawkins. Everyone always talks about him but his to problems seem to get worse and he is meh from the free throw line.
5) Most underrated?
Besides everybody on Denver? Bernard King. I think that people think he is good but he isn't mentioned as elite. A ridiculous scorer and a dominant rebounder from the sf position.
6) Order these according to who will have the best record at the end of the season: Bobcats, Wizards, 76ers, Nets, Knicks
Pretty sure that it will be the Bobcats. First of all they have the best record as of now. Second of all Spencer always helps marty. The only way I see them not having the best record is if the sixers dump youth for talent in order to solidify their making their cy. (Ed's note: didn't answer the question )
7) By what season will Broph return to BBS?
After checking in as a guest for awhile he got a user name. step 2 was changing his name to Broph. Step 3 is the return. If Philly doesn't make it Broph is coming back.
8) New amnesty clause rule - does the cost far outweigh the benefit?
Depends how bad the contract is and how bad the player is. I doubt that it will be used that much. My guess is that it will be used in extremely rare situations bc of the high price. But that is how it should be. I'm in leagues where amnesty is too cheap and gms overpay on purpose bc amnesty is there to bail them out.
9) If you were redrafting this year's draft, who would you select 2nd overall?
Hard to say that I wouldn't go with Nique but that is too easy bc he actually was picked second. I really like Rickey Pierce. He has 30 pt potential. Decent rebounder for a sg. Nice %s. Seems to have pot left. Draft really doesn't look that good in hindsight.
10) Buck Williams or Charles Barkley?
Buck Williams. He is like the real Buck. Solid. Still only 22 and already one of the best rebounders in the league. Not a shotblocking monster but 2.5 blks + stls is solid. Good ft shooter and decent fg%. No real holes in his game. Barkley obviously could probe me wrong with a good tc or 2 but I think when all is said and doneBuck will be the better player. Of course I love the Nets so…..
11) Where does Bingo Smith rank among today's players?
Still elite. I think that his stats would be even better in the right situation but his pg shoots a lot and h is next to a top scorer in Gervin. Still has great %s, low tos, 4.5 stls+blks. Rebounding has dropped a bit but is still great for a sf. His volume has also dipped but some is probably not bc of old age but rather bc of his teammates and the dc used.
12) Over/Under 69 wins for the Bucks?
Under. My guess is that they hit 68. They are missing Caldwell Jones and his defensive presence. They have enough depth that they will be fine, just not good enough to get 69 wins.
13) Worst GM in BBS?
Ashes. He was in a great situation as far as making his cy. Gms seemed to be giving away talented guys for very little. He hasn't done a good job of building a team. He has a bunch of talented players but hasn't gotten decent depth players, even though they aren't hard to find. Very hard to trade with. Not saying that he is a bad guy but he really isn't a very good gm.
14) If you could GM any other team in BBS right now, which would it be and why?
The Hawks. I want MJ on my team. I would ac/rc him into an unstoppable force and just build a team around him.
15) If you were tanking, which player would you most want as a starter on your team?
The ideal player is a pg who shoots a lot, does so poorly and turns the ball over a ton. In other words George Karl who is currently helping Mia tank.
16) Which team will win more Western Conference Championships in the next decade, the Grizzlies or the Suns?
Kinda hard to call. I think that the Suns will be better over the next few years but then foots, jones and carr will all have to be replaced. Bird is great and Bill is solid but they don't compare to the Grizz triumvirate of Isiah, Mchale and Buck. By the end of the decade my guess is that the grizz will have more.
17) Describe Martinez in three words
insecure, nice guy.
18) Over/Under 50 wins for the Nuggets?
Under. Nuggets always play with their dc down the stretch and usually just figure out what doesn't work. Still will manage to pull out a round or 2 in the playoffs.
19) Right now (at the time the questions were sent), the Hornets have the third worst record in BBS, will they stay in that spot, forcing Repole to take their pick?
They have the fourth worst record. The Hornets have been playing very poorly lately and could easily pass the heat for the 3rd worst record. It is possible that REpole will take the pick even if it is fourth. He seems to think that his window is closing and he might use the pick to upgrade a position.
20) Finally, what is your BBS Finals/Championship prediction?
Suns – Bucks. Bucks are clearly the class of the league at this point. Suns have the best record in the west and a mismatch in Bird. I actually think that the Nuggets have a better shot at knocking them of than the Grizz just bc they match up better but either way the Suns are the definite favorites out West. Championship prediction – Bucks in 6.
