1 Los Angeles Clippers (from Rockets) - Charles Barkley PF 6'6'' 252 19 B+ C+ C+ C+ A- A
649 Charles Barkley SF 19 6'6'' 252 B+ B C+ B- A- A
The Round Mound of Rebound has arrived! The B- improvement was probably from the position change from PF to SF but fuck it we'll count it anyway! Not surprised the consensus #1 overall has a +3 training camp, including +2 in outside. Guy is already looking monstrous and he's just 19.
2 Minnesota Timberwolves - Dominique Wilkins SF 6'7'' 200 22 B+ B D+ C+ C A
348 Dominique Wilkins SF 22 6'7'' 200 B+ B D B C A
I thought Wilkins was sold short on his starting ratings but anyway… solid training camp here. I doubt the Wolves care too much about Wilkins dropping in handling and although they would have liked to see improvement in the scoring department, I think the +2 in defense is a significant change for a guy who was said to be not much of a defender. I’m sure Wilkins is loaded with potential so he’ll be an interesting player to watch develop over the next few years.
3 San Antonio Spurs - LaSalle Thompson C 6'10'' 245 21 B- D+ D- B+ B+ A
401 LaSalle Thompson PF 21 6'10'' 245 C+ C- D- B+ B+ A
The Nuggets traded Alex English in a deal for LaSalle and so far it looks like they got burned. LaSalle’s notes weren’t very good at all so I was surprised to see he went #3 and even more surprised to see that they were able to get a player like English for him. Even though LaSalle is a defender/rebounder, the -1 to his inside definitely hurts. He probably has good potential but with poor handles (according to notes) and not enough shot blocking/stealing to make up for it (said to be a 1/1 kind of guy) I don’t see how LaSalle can become a good starter in this league.
4 Detroit Pistons - James Worthy SF 6'9'' 225 21 B C C A- C+ A
252 James Worthy SF 21 6'9'' 225 B C+ C A- C+ A
Worthy is another guy that I thought was maybe solid a little short ratings wise but he had good notes so it’s all good. Although he only went +1, getting out of that dreaded C rating is always a clutch improvement to me. Probably the obvious pick here with LaSalle going #3. I think Worthy has a chance to be a middle-class man Bobby Jones. Because of that, I suspect Worthy will remain a Piston for a long time. Hard to find stud two way players.
5 Utah Jazz - Ricky Pierce SF 6'4'' 205 23 B A- C C C- A
373 Ricky Pierce SG 23 6'4'' 205 B A- C C+ C- A
Even though I was shopping Pierce hard I can honestly say that I’m a big fan of him and had no problem with keeping him if it came down to it. It was hard to sell GMs on him which baffled me a bit since his notes were incredible to me. Lights out from midrange and 3pt with good inside, solid strength and very good handles? Sounds like the dream scorer to me. Though he only managed a +1 improvement, it was a C to C+ change to his defense which is clutch. This guy definitely has Skeeter Swift potential to me.
6 New Orleans Hornets -Fat Lever PG 6'3'' 170 22 C C+ B B+ C A
610 Fat Lever PG 22 6'3'' 170 C C+ A- B+ C B
I’m not a fan of point guards that can’t score. He was said to have decent inside but the shitty strength hampers that a bit. Poor midrange and 3pt shot is obviously a turn off as well. Honestly surprised to see he didn’t come in with C+ rebounding. Not much to say about him. Barring any incredible training camps I think he’s just a backup on a good team.
7 Philadelphia 76ers - Paul Pressey SG 6'5'' 185 23 B+ C+ A A C+ C
549 Paul Pressey SG 23 6'5'' 185 B+ C+ A A C+ D
Paul Pressey didn’t improve but the 76ers weren’t looking for that. Entering their CY, the 76ers were looking for a player that could come in, start and be an impact player right away. They got what they wanted with Pressey. Aside from the mediocre handling, Pressey’s notes were impressive and in his first 8 games, he’s showing he truly can do a little bit of everything. Perfect pick here.
8 Dallas Mavericks - Terry Cummings PF 6'9'' 220 21 B C D+ C+ C+ A
364 Terry Cummings PF 21 6'9'' 220 B+ C D+ B- B- A
With a bunch of nothing on their roster, Dallas was hoping for a huge hit with their 8th pick and they got just that with Terry. With a HUGE +3 training camp with improvements in all the important categories, the Mavericks could possibly be sitting on a young star in the making. I don’t see why Terry couldn’t develop into a poor man’s Zach Randolph… That would be a very good player
9 Phoenix Suns (from Knicks) - Chuck Nevitt C 7'5'' 217 23 C C- F+ A- B C
256 Chuck Nevitt C 23 7'5'' 217 C C- F B+ B+ C
Just a mind boggling pick here at #9. I understand that the Suns are looking to win and would rather try for immediate impact players over projects but really… Chuck Nevitt? Sure he can block and defend some but Lawz must have missed the “offense is poor, handles are worse.” That is a pretty damning sentence and I thought for sure Nevitt wouldn’t go until the 20s because of it. Huge break for the rest of the league IMO. Can’t believe he didn’t look to trade the pick or something.
10 Minnesota Timberwolves (from Heat) - Sleepy Floyd PG 6'3'' 170 22 B B C+ C+ C- B
533 Sleepy Floyd PG 22 6'3'' 170 B- B+ B B- C- B
Big time +3 training camp here and to be honest I’m not really surprised. PGs always tend to blow up and Sleepy had blowup type ratings if you will. The Wolves will take the trade off in outside and inside any day when you couple the +2 improvement in handle and the +1 in defense. Sleepy was said to have mediocre handles to the +2 there is especially clutch (assuming his ball handling went up some of course). Nice looking pick here.
11 Detroit Pistons (from Pacers) - Mike Sanders SF 6'6'' 210 22 B B- C- A- C B
510 Mike Sanders SG 22 6'6'' 210 B B C- A C A
Some how I completely missed Mike Sanders in the notes the first time around. Don’t know who he is to be honest but anyway I just read them and he sounds very solid. No true holes in his game, can do a little bit of everything with his strength being perimeter defense. With that in mind, the +1 in outside, defense and scouted pot is gravy. No clue if the change from A- to A defense is from his move to SG or not but who cares. B B A with a new and shiny A in scouted pot is very easy on the eyes. Pistons are 2/2 so far.
12 Utah Jazz (from Cavaliers) - Cliff Levingston PF 6'8'' 210 21 B C D+ B+ B- B
584 Cliff Levingston PF 21 6'8'' 210 B C D+ B+ B C
The nice starting ratings are there and aside from the mediocre jumpshooter bit, everything on Levingston's notes pointed towards a nice player. +1 rebounding is nice to see although he did go a net a of 0 with the -1 to scouted pot. Have no clue if he'll end up being a starter or a benchie.
13 Milwaukee Bucks (from Nets) - Terry Teagle SF 6'5'' 195 22 B+ C+ C- B C B
451 Terry Teagle SG 22 6'5'' 195 B+ B- C- B C B
Teagle’s looked solid before the draft and looks even better after training camp even if he just went +1 outside. I don't imagine the guy has huge pot so any improvements are sure to be welcomed by the Bucks. I'm guessing he'll be a valuable scorer off the bench, with an outside chance of becoming more if he's cared for. Already has the tools there with great inside, jumpshot, quickness and handles.
14 Los Angeles Lakers (from Bulls) - Ed Nealy PF 6'7'' 238 22 B- C C- A- B B
227 Ed Nealy PF 22 6'7'' 238 B C C- A- B+ B
Nice pick here at 14 by the Lakers. I thought Nealy’s notes were pretty damn good but obviously with no mention of any shot blocking ability there was little chance he was going to be drafted high. He was said to be good to decent at everything else though which spells out “good player” to me. The +2 improvement, including a jump in rebounding and inside scoring must have the Lakers excited. Nealy is also putting up a huge 16.6/12.5 line through his first 8 games as a pro.
15 Orlando Magic(from Nuggets) - Fred Roberts PF 6'10'' 218 22 B+ B- C- B- C B
366 Fred Roberts SF 22 6'10'' 218 B+ B- C- C+ C B
Super low post and mid range scorer with elite post defense? Tough to find something like that at #15… unless he has a major flaw. Roberts can’t board up apparently. I imagine Roberts will always be a bench player because of his rebounding but a guy who can score in bunches in limited minutes is always valuable. Nice looking pick here in spite of the -1, which honestly is probably just due to the position change. Not sure.
16 Toronto Raptors - Trent Tucker SG 6'5'' 193 22 C+ A C B- C B
369 Trent Tucker SG 22 6'5'' 193 C+ A C B C C
Can’t be too upset about a +1 defense in a guy who is most likely a finished product coming into BBS. Sweet shooting Trent Tucker should be in the league for a long time because of his incredibly high shooting rating and his solid defense. In 6 games, Tucker has hit 42 out of 66 field goal attempts including 14-20 from downtown. Small sample size, sure… but big time stretch for a rook
17 Minnesota Timberwolves (from Trail Blazers) - Clark Kellogg PF 6'7'' 225 21 B C C- C+ C+ A
269 Clark Kellogg PF 21 6'7'' 225 B C C- C+ C+ B
Severe handling issues = do not want. His notes did sound ok otherwise but meh… honestly not surprised to see that he did not improve anywhere and lost some scouted pot. With such weak starting ratings I’ll be really surprised if Clark can overcome his poor handling.
18 New Orleans Hornets (from Thunder) - Derek Smith SF 6'6'' 205 21 B+ C C- C+ C B
301 Derek Smith SF 21 6'6'' 205 B C C- C+ C A
Hornets took a shot on a good inside scoring prospect and he went -1 in inside. Ouch. The A scouted pot, while nice to see, doesn’t really ease the pain of that -1 to the inside rating. Really have no clue about this guy. Will probably be a scrub lol
19 Los Angeles Clippers - Lester Conner PG 6'4'' 180 23 C+ C B A- C B
405 Lester Conner PG 23 6'4'' 180 B- C+ B- A- C C
Lester Conner had a training camp net of 0 but taking a closer look his ratings, things weren’t as bad as they sound. Going from C+ C to B- C+ in the scoring department is significant. Loss of handles sucks for sure but you’ll take that for a +2 in scoring any day. Should be a solid back up.
20 Washington Wizards - Darren Tillis C 6'11'' 215 22 C+ D+ D+ A- C+ C
390 Darren Tillis C 22 6'11'' 215 C+ D+ D+ A- C+ C
Obviously dropped this low because of his shit rebounding. Despite no changes, nice pick by the Wizards here. Tillis is said to be a big time shot blocker and post defender and as we all know those are hard as hell to acquire.
21 Memphis Grizzlies - Rod Higgins PF 6'7'' 200 22 B- B+ C- B C B
496 Rod Higgins PF 22 6'7'' 200 B- A- C- B+ C B
Seems like everything the Grizzlies touch turns into gold. Higgins did look pretty good to start with a +1 in both outside shooting and defense, Higgins went from solid looking to high quality.
22 Chicago Bulls (from Bobcats) - Scott Hastings C 6'10'' 235 22 C+ B- C- A- C+ B
251 Scott Hastings SF 22 6'10'' 235 C+ C+ C- A+ C+ B
Notes said that Hastings could move to SF and they were right. A+ defense always looks sexy. Will be interesting to see if he can manage to get any burn.. if not with the Bulls then somewhere else. Want to see what kind of #s he is capable of.
23 Minnesota Timberwolves (from Celtics) - Mark McNamara C 6'11'' 235 23 B- C D+ B- A- C
353 Mark McNamara C 23 6'11'' 235 B- C D+ C+ A- C
Although he was obviously a finished product, the -1 in defense hurts. He should still be a serviceable backup though.
24 New York Knicks (from Lakers) - Craig Hodges PG 6'2'' 190 22 C A C- C D+ B
393 Craig Hodges PG 22 6'2'' 190 C A C C D C
Hodges didn’t have any notes but you can’t go wrong with a super shooting point guard at #24. The +1 in handles is negated by the -1 in his already shitty rebounding rating IMO. If the 5 games Hodges has played are any indication, his handling rating is sky high which is very nice.
25 Detroit Pistons (from Bucks) - Audie Norris C 6'9'' 230 21 C+ D+ D B C+ B
161 Audie Norris C 21 6'9'' 230 C+ D+ D B+ B- B
The Pistons have yet another rook that has enjoyed some solid improvements. Nice +2 training camp… including boosts to defense and rebounding.
26 San Antonio Spurs (from Warriors) - John Bagley PG 6'0'' 185 22 C+ C B B+ C B
316 John Bagley PG 22 6'0'' 185 C+ C B B C B
-1 in his best attribute. Sucks.
27 Milwaukee Bucks (from Hawks) - Perry Moss PG 6'2'' 185 23 C+ C+ B- A- C C
522 Perry Moss PG 23 6'2'' 185 C+ C+ B A- C D
+1 to his handling which is nice if it was indeed ball handling that improved. Maybe he can be an ok backup. Don’t know.
28 Golden State Warriors (from Magic) - Charles Pittman PF 6'8'' 220 24 B+ C D+ B+ C+ C
384 Charles Pittman PF 24 6'8'' 220 B+ C C- B+ B- B
Nice pick at #28 for the Warriors. Surprised to see all of these other scrubs go in front of him to be honest. Pittman strikes me as a guy who can score and board well in limited minutes. +3 training camp is just huge for a guy picked this late. Nice.
29 Utah Jazz (from Suns) - Russ Schoene PF 6'10'' 210 22 C+ B D+ C+ C+ B (to be traded to Cavs)
229 Russ Schoene PF 22 6'10'' 210 C+ B D C+ C+ B9

Nice pick at #28 for the Warriors. Surprised to see all of these other scrubs go in front of him to be honest. Pittman strikes me as a guy who can score and board well in limited minutes. +3 training camp is just huge for a guy picked this late. Nice.
