1. Detroit Pistons
Charles Barkley PF 6'6'' 252 19 B+ C+ C+ C+ A- A
The Pistons strike gold in getting the #1 pick and Barkley is a no brainer...Barkley is only 19 and has incredible ratings for a PF...He has all the talent and tools to become an elite PF in this league... Already an elite post presence and rebounder...Pistons will have a shit load of cap this offseason to potentially surround Barkley with talent.
2. Philadelphia 76ers
Dominique Wilkins SF 6'7'' 200 22 B+ B D+ C+ C A
76ers select the best wing in the draft in Wilkens... An absolute jaw dropping human highlight reel waiting to happen... He'll provide a great inside presence for Philly...An elite jump shot as well....Obviously he would need to work on his defense, but I'm sure he'll get better there with rc and ac help.. Adding him next to Kurt Rambis and Kiki will make a very nice trio for the future.
3. San Antonio Spurs
Fat Lever PG 6'3'' 170 22 C C+ B B+ C A
The Best PG in the draft... The Spurs selected MRR with the top pick many years ago and find themselves selecting another top PG spect in Lever... Hopefully Lever will become their PG of the future if he pans out for them.... Lever enters the league as a hard nosed defender and a very good rebounder for his position...His offense and handling-passing ability should develop as well...The Spurs just started their rebuild and building around Lever is a nice start.
4. Utah Jazz
LaSalle Thompson C 6'10'' 245 21 B- D+ D- B+ B+ A
Thompson is the next best available player at this pick.. Utah selected Herb Williams last season but adding Thompson will further upgrade their front court.. At age 21, he will have a lot of time to improve on the rebuilding Jazz... He's already a very good rebounder and defender...His offense looks pretty raw but should have plenty of time to develop in Utah until they are ready to compete.
5. New Orleans Hornets
Paul Pressey SG 6'5'' 185 23 B+ C+ A A C+ C
After the top 4, the Hornets select the next best available player in Pressey... Pressey has a BBS ready game... Great ratings for a rookie SG before TC...Pressey will provide the Hornets with scoring, defense, rebounding, and passing right away... The Hornets will need all the help they need next season since they won't own their pick... However, don't be surprise to see this pick traded for their future picks.
6. Phoenix Suns (via New York)
James Worthy SF 6'9'' 225 21 B C C A- C+ A
The rich get richer... Suns select a very good 2 way player in Worthy... The Suns have a lot of talented wings on their team and I see them adding another one in Worthy... He can score inside with a great jump shot and his defense is really good... I see Worthy becoming a Bobby Jones type player... The Suns will be even scarier if he becomes a player of that caliber.
7. Minnesota Timberwolves
Terry Cummings PF 6'9'' 220 21 B C D+ C+ C+ A
The Wolves could make a different selection here but I don't see them passing up a high potential raw big man in Cummings...The Wolves just started their rebuild and adding someone who isn't ready to contribute but has the potential to become good, might work out for them in the long run... Adding Cummings next to Schayes looks like a nice future front court to build around with... The downside of this pick is obviously Cummings busting, but I see Game taking the risk.
8. Minnesota Timberwolves (via Miami)
Ricky Pierce SF 6'4'' 205 23 B A- C C C- A
After selecting Cummings, Wolves select a very good wing scorer in Pierce... I see Pierce shifting to SG due to his low rebounding and questionable D at SF... IMO, Pierce is the best available pick at 8 since he enters the league as a BBS ready scorer with high potential...Wolves now have a nice future trio in Schayes-Cummings-Pierce and they have more picks later in the draft.
9. Dallas Mavericks
Sleepy Floyd PG 6'3'' 170 22 B B C+ C+ C- B
Based off his ratings, Floyd looks like a reach but Dallas shouldn't pass on him... Spencer LOVES Floyd and I have a gut feeling that he gave him huge potential to be a great player in this league .. Besides that, Dallas could use a future PG and adding him next to McGee will be very nice for their rebuild... Floyd is also the second best PG in the draft after Lever.
10. LA Clippers (via Houston)
Cliff Levingston PF 6'8'' 210 21 B C D+ B+ B- B
At this pick, I see the Clippers selecting a talented PF in Levingston who enters the league with a nice post presence, handling, and defensive ability... He looks like one of those PF's you shouldn't pass on since bigs are valuable in this league... Levingston has the tools to become a very good 4 in this league... Clippers now have a nice frontcourt with Lucas, Neal, and Levingston...With those other guys aging, Levingston might make a nice replacement for the future.
11. Detroit Pistons (via Indiana)
Mike Sanders SF 6'6'' 210 22 B B- C- A- C B
After selecting Sir Charles with the #1 selection, Pistons go with a very nice 2 way player in Sanders...He's a tweener that could play both SF and SG but looks like a very good one... His notes states that he has elite level defense and that's something Pistons could add for the future and possibly trade for an upgrade...So far a great draft for Detroit.
12. Milwaukee Bucks (via Cleveland)
Ed Nealy PF 6'7'' 238 22 B- C C- A- B B
The Bucks have a very good talented team with great depth everywhere and I see them selecting Nealy who enters the league as a very good post defender that could play multiple positions in the frontcourt.. Nealy sounds like one of those guys who plays with a high motor and adds toughness as well... He will add more depth to Milwaukee... Bucks are competing and adding a player who is ready to contribute on both ends on the floor makes sense for them...However, Aar has been on a trading frenzy lately, so don't be surprise to see him move this pick for more picks or talent.
13. Chicago Bulls
Scott Hastings C 6'10'' 235 22 C+ B- C- A- C+ B
Chicago could go another direction, but I see them selecting a very versatile player in Hastings... He has a great jump shot with very good handles, which would enable him to slide down to PF or SF... His notes states that he doesn't have many weaknesses at all.. I think Hastings could become a nice player in this league, especially if he develops an inside game...Safe pick here but a good one.
