Pros: Mercer is a very good scorer coming into the league. He has a great midrange game and great agility for his position. Mercer also has the ability to take smaller opponents into the paint and score down low. He has solid potential and should develop into a very solid scorer.
Cons: Outside of scoring Mercer doesn't bring much to the table. He's a below average defender who will probably never develop the defending ability to start for a good team. He is also a poor ball handler who given the chance should average many turnovers. He is also a very poor rebounder for someone with his size.
Overall: Mercer could develop into a solid bench player, but that is probably the most that can be expected out of him. He is a one dimensional player who only focuses on scoring. His defense, rebounding, and ball handling will probably never get to the level expected out of a starting player. His potential is probably decent, but not enough to make him an impact player. Will probably be drafted in the middle of the first round.
