1) The Atlanta Hawks select Michael Jordan SF 6'6'' 195 18 A- B- C- A- C+ A
Anyone want to argue this? Anyone? Didn't think so.
Jordan is 18 and is in a position to be the best player in league history as long as the GM that drafts him is willing to put in the work by writing ample articles.
For that reason, I hope that he ends up a Buck.
2) The Philadelphia 76ers select Buck Williams PF 6'8'' 215 21 B C D B A- A
It's a tough call at the second pick because the talent from 2-5 in this draft is about equal, but I'm going with Uncle Buck with the second pick.
He reminds me of Elton Brand, he'll fill it up on the boards, put up solid scoring numbers, can shoot the ball well from midrange and based on his notes, he won't hurt you in any department.
He's a safe pick, but certainly a solid one, especially with A potential.
3) The Memphis Grizzlies select Rolando Blackman SG 6'6'' 190 22 B A- C- C+ C A
The Grizzlies would be in a solid spot with a top-4 pick because they can fill needs and continue to build their team.
Blackman seems like the best pick here. He handles the ball well and can score at will. Not a very good defender, but serviceable and looks like a player who can start right away, especially on a rebuilding team.
4) The Utah Jazz select Mark Aguirre SF 6'6'' 232 21 B B C C C A
If it weren't for "handles aren't great", Aguirre would likely go 2nd overall.
He looks like a raw player whose ceiling depends on how good he can become defensively.
Right now, Aguirre will put up good scoring numbers right away, will grab boards with his big frame and if his upside is as advertised, he could be an eventual all-star.
5) The Milwaukee Bucks select Orlando Woolridge PF 6'9'' 215 21 A- C+ C- C C A
Woolridge is a risky assessment. His defense looks to be conducive to a power forward, but the rest of his game looks like that of a small forward, which officially makes him a tweener.
Still, who wouldn't love drafting a guy that puts up 25/7 as a rookie, regardless of how he plays defense.
Woolridge will put up huge offensive numbers and given that his notes say that he doesn't have great strength, I imagine that his inside scoring rating is in the high 90s, which is impressive.
Personally, I would move him to SF before TC and hope that his perimeter defense improves.
6) The Charlotte Bobcats select Larry Nance PF 6'10'' 205 22 B+ C C- B+ C+ A
Nance reminds me a lot of Mike Green at this point, which really isn't a good thing. However, he reminds me of Green right now and if his upside is true, he'll be a really nice player.
If he has 80 potential, he'll be an A- C+ C A B C type guy and will end up like Darnell Hillman.
As much as people hate on Hillman, he's certainly a valuable piece if you like shot blocking.
7) The Minnesota Timberwolves select Danny Ainge PG 6'4'' 175 22 C A- C C+ C- A
Ainge looks to be the only worthwhile point guard in the draft.
He has elite shooting and good ball handling.
Personally, I'm not sold on him, but there's always the Rickey Francis factor that could make Ainge more attractive.
That said, the notes say "very good" shooter and not "elite" shooter, so who knows.
8) Golden State Warriors select Eddie Johnson SF 6'7'' 215 22 C+ A C C C A
"His handling, quickness, midrange and 3 point shot are elite" - a pretty ringing endorsement that there's not much risk in taking E.J.
The biggest question mark, like most of these prospects, is whether or not the rest of his game can catch up.
His defense looks meh and his rebounding, while it's okay at SG or SF, could use some work.
9) The New Orleans Hornets select Frank Brickowski PF 6'9'' 240 22 B B D+ C+ C+ B
Another player with huge strengths, but glaring weaknesses.
He has elite post moves and is a good shooter, he steals the ball and has big post defense, but his rebounding is not serviceable for a starting big man and his poor ball handling makes it tough to run him at SF.
I expect that Brickowski can put up 20 ppg if he starts, but the rest of his game makes him a liability.
10) The Chicago Bulls select Elston Turner SF 6'5'' 190 22 B- C B- A- C+ B
Turner seems like one of those players who Play will take and he'll end up having high potential and being magnificent.
As it stands, he looks like a good point forward who will come off the bench at several positions and do work on the defensive end.
If his upside is higher than advertised, he could end up being a stud.
11) The Milwaukee Bucks select Alton Lister C 7'0'' 240 23 C+ D+ D A- B B
The best center in the draft falls towards the end of the lotto.
Lister looks like a really solid defender who will come off the bench at PF/C from the get go and be a healthy part of any team's rotation.
The poor FT shooter is really his biggest turn off.
12) The Minnesota Timberwolves select Albert King SF 6'6'' 190 21 B+ B- C- B C B
Another player who would go higher if not for his handles rating.
It's always nice to get a small forward with B+ inside this late into the lotto, because his offensive ratings after one TC could easily be A- B, which increases his value tenfold.
King is just a very safe pick here and I doubt that he'll even be on the board this late in the lotto anyhow.
13) The Memphis Grizzlies select Tom Chambers PF 6'10'' 220 22 B+ B C- C C A
Chambers has so many red flags that it's not even funny, but if he's there at the 13th pick, he'll likely get snapped up.
Anyone want to argue this? Anyone? Didn't think so.
