1) Derrek Dickey (+39 draft spots)
Then: Derrek Dickey PF 6'7'' 218 22 C+ C C- B B- C
Now: Derrek Dickey PF 27 6'7'' 218 B C C- A- A- A (+7)
Dickey originally wasn't on this list simply because I didn't notice that he was in this draft when I was compiling it. Thankfully, I noticed that he was selected in the second round and ensured that this article remained relevant.
Dickey is a top-4 value player in the league (now that Magic and Bird have arrived) and is an absolute stud.
There are no holes in his game and he's coming off of a DPOY award.
Definitely the top pick if this draft was re-done and possibly the biggest draft steal in league history.
2) Kermit Washington (+3 draft spots)
Then: Kermit Washington PF 6'8'' 230 22 B C- C- A- B A
Now: Kermit Washington PF 27 6'8'' 230 A- C- C A+ A- C (+7)
Kermit has become an absolute frontcourt stud on both ends of the floor. He shoots a high percentage on offense and is an incredible defender.
He's the type of player who is the most valuable trade asset on your team despite not having the best output.
Kermit has become an elite player who is top-10 in value.
3) Moses Malone (-2 Draft Spots)
Then: Moses Malone C 18 6'10'' 260 A- C D C A- A
Now: Moses Malone C 23 6'10'' 260 B+ C C B A+ A (+8)
It's hard to put Kermit above Moses, but based on his defensive output, I value him more.
Moses is the league's best rebounder and is a good defensive player, but his percentages are lower and he's yet to be a proven winner.
I wouldn't be shocked to see Moses get traded this season.
4) Larry Kenon (-1 Draft Spot)
Then: Larry Kenon SF 6'9'' 205 20 B+ C C- B B- A
Now: Larry Kenon SF 25 6'9'' 205 A- B C- A B C (+7)
The Lakers love Kenon and you can see why - he does everything well.
He shoots great percentages, has become a stud defender and is a plus rebounder for his position.
Kenon is the type of player who you can plug in immediately and he will make a positive impact on your team.
He's probably not a franchise player, but he's the ideal second star.
5) George McGinnis (-1 Draft Spot)
Then: George McGinnis PF 6'8'' 235 23 B+ C+ C C+ B A
Now: George McGinnis SF 28 6'8'' 235 B+ B+ C A B+ B (+9)
Personally, I dislike McGinnis, but he is likely the fourth best player at this point of the draft because he's not one-dimensional. It would be great if he put up better scoring numbers, but the rest of his game is superb.
The biggest concern about McGinnis was his ball handling and at 1.8 topg, he's, in my opinion, exceeded his original expectations.
He also showed that he has good trade value by getting Willie Davis and picks in exchange for him.
6) Mike D'Antoni (+6 spots)
Then: Mike D'Antoni PG 6'3'' 185 22 C+ C B A C- B
Now: Mike D'Antoni PG 27 6'3'' 185 B- A- A- A C- C (+8)
D'Antoni was originally touted as a solid defensive point guard and he has evolved into a well-rounded player.
Strangely, D'Antoni gets passed around like a joint at a Cypress Hill concert and doesn't get a lot of love.
He's one of the most efficient PGs in the league and is a solid defender, so it will be interesting to see what he can do when a team commits to him as their starting point guard.
7) Caldwell Jones (+10 draft spots)
Then: Caldwell Jones C 6'11'' 217 23 C+ C C- A- B- B
Now: Caldwell Jones C 28 6'11'' 217 B- C C A+ B+ C (+6)
Jones has emerged from being a good bench player to being an elite defensive stopper up front.
He's not a good offensive player by any means, but he's an elite shot blocker and that is what makes him such a coveted asset.
8) Allan Bristow (+5 draft spots)
Then: Allan Bristow SG 6'7'' 210 22 C+ A C- C C B
Now: Allan Bristow SG 27 6'7'' 210 C+ A+ C C+ C+ C (+4)
Bristow's ratings haven't improved much since he was drafted, but his numbers speak for themselves.
He's an efficient player with a sweet stroke who isn't a plus defensively, but is a huge plus offensively.
With his sick contract, Bristow is one of the most underrated assets in BBS.
9) Maurice Lucas (-7 draft spots)
Then: Maurice Lucas C 21 6'9'' 215 B- C D+ B B A
Now: Maurice Lucas C 26 6'9'' 215 B C C- A- A- D (+6)
Lucas has great ratings, but puts up awful stats.
He has identical ratings to Derrek Dickey, which is why numerical ratings are so much more important than alphabetical ratings.
Lucas has yet to be AC'd (although they've been submitted) and it will be interesting to see if he can turn his career around.
10) Mel Davis (+18 draft spots)
Then: Mel Davis SF 6'6'' 220 22 C C- C- B+ A- B
Now: Mel Davis C 27 6'6'' 220 C C D+ A- A C (+1)
One of the best post defenders and rebounders out there and a solid player to have off of the bench.
11) George Karl (+9 draft spots)
Then: George Karl PG 6'2'' 185 22 C+ B C+ C+ D+ B
Now: George Karl PG 6'2'' 185 27 C+ A- A- A- D+ C (+11)
If you want a PG with great ratings who will lose you games, Karl is your man!
12) Larry McNeill (+11 draft spots)
Then: Larry McNeill C 6'9'' 195 22 B C C- B C+ B
Now: Larry McNeill SF 27 6'9'' 195 B+ C D+ B+ B- C (+2)
Has solid numerical ratings, but was essentially Broph'd to the point that he's now a bad contract.
13) Dwight Jones (-4 draft spots)
Then: Dwight Jones C 6'10'' 210 21 B- C D+ C+ B- A
Now: Dwight Jones C 6'10'' 210 26 A- C C- B A- B (+9)
Great ratings. Awful player.
