1) The Blazers have the best record in the league, but the Bucks are 24-1 at home. If the Blazers had home court advantage in a Finals series against the Bucks, would you give them the edge?
Kobe: Ehh I think the Bucks have a better team so I would still give them the slight edge, but Bingo and the Magic did have home court for all of those titles. The Bucks defense hasn't been great and they tend to give up a lot of points on the road(11-9 road record is pretty ugly for a Bingo led team) Their road record should improve as the season goes on though. Bingo has a ton of talent around him and even though the Blazers could be the best team Bingo has run up against in the finals I think the Bucks just have to much fire power. And Bingo>>>>>>
Aar: I think at this point you'd have to give Broph the edge if he had home court advantage. It's hard to go against Bingo, but my team is nowhere near as prolific as the ones that repole built. That said, if the Bucks win out at home, I think that stealing a game on the road is certainly not out of the question. The Blazers seem confident that the Bucks offensive-minded system is beatable, but without seeing McAdoo in action yet, it's tough to tell.
2) What is a bigger surprise, the Jazz being great or the Warriors being mediocre?
Kobe: Neither are that big of a surprise really. Every team ahead of the Warriors has as good of a team if not better. And there record could be a little better but CC has been trying to tank. Parish isn't quite ready to be a starting center on a good team yet and World is also a bit of a downgrade from Jojo at least defensively. They score a lot but can't stop anyone. Jazz were good last year so this really isn't a surprise either. Snyder was hurt last year, with him healthy they are one of the best teams. They play great defense and are extremely efficient on offense.
Aar: JAH has always built sturdy teams, so I'm not shocked that they're playing well. I didn't expect them to play THIS well, but seeing the Warriors as basement dwellers is pretty shocking. Bing is still putting up numbers, Wil Jones looks great and their frontcourt is solid. They need some more scoring up front and World B. Free, despite solid ratings, has been somewhat disappointing. I'm quite surprised at how poorly they are doing, all things considered.
3) If you had to trade one of George McGinnis or Pete Maravich, who would you ship out and why?
Kobe: If I had to, McGinnis. Pete is having a great year and obviously the better player, but I doubt I trade him or McGinnis tbh. If I did trade McGinnis though I would be looking for a stud center preferably under 29.
Aar: I agree. I hate McGinnis and Pistol has been somewhat underrated - if that's even possible considering the name value.
4) Other than Bingo, if you could have one player on the Bucks, who would it be?
Kobe: Bob McAdoo. Great at PF and SF and hasn't been AC'd yet He is having a down year but he has been great in the past. He should benefit from playing with bingo like everyone else does but I'm not sure how he will work out at center.
Aar: Steve Mix. Hands down the next best player on the Bucks. He is absolutely incredible. I'm not sure that I've ever seen scoring efficiency this good from a second option. The jump from his previous best averages to this season's are incredible.
5) Are you happy with how your trade with the Thunder turned out? You received some criticism?
Kobe: Yea you and repole were the only ones to criticize really though. Willie is great, but at 32 and signed for 2 years he was only going to be on my team for those 2 years most likely. And I wasn't going to be able to keep him and Block going into the off-season anyway with having to resign McCarter. I only gave up 1 of my firsts in the deal and I like McGinnis a lot. He is only in his 5th year and one TC away from being A- A- C A B+. 19.5 ppg this year as a third/non option mostly. Gives you 9 rpg and 2 spg as well. His FG% could be a little better but he is a good FT shooter and while he doesn't take a ton of 3s he makes them at a decent clip.
Aar: As I've said previously, I think this trade was awful. Giving up picks and Willie for McGinnis is simply a bad trade. Willie, at the time, wasn't shooting well and has since returned to form. I'm also not really sure why Habes did this deal, but I know that he's got a road map in his head of what his next move is.
6) Which team in the East would have the best chance against the Bucks?
Kobe: The Bulls. The Bulls back court is a little better. Mix and McAdoo are much better than Kauffman and Webster though. The Dickey and Bingo will match up will be amazing. Dickey is a monster and playing on anther level right now defensively. He still can't match Bingo offensively though. Bulls will need Dickey to at least match Bingo if they are going to win the series IMO and that's a tough task.
Aar: I think that the Cavs could end up being a threat to anyone in the East. They are on fire right now and Eldridge Webb, despite his contract, is a dangerous player. If the Cavs end up moving Roundfield, Dantley or Nixon with Eakins for another stud, they could make a lot of noise.
7) Who has had a more disappointing season: The Bobcats or the Lakers?
Kobe: At this point I guess the Lakers since Goo is out 52 more days and they have been struggling ever since he got injured. Though the Lakers have the better record right now Hayes is back for the Bobcats and they should start winning a lot here soon. Though john seems to have gone missing or something I think the Bobcats will end up with the better record. The East has a lot of bad team so with Hayes back they should be great like they were last year.
Aar: To me, it's the Bobcats without question. What happened to these guys? They were an elite team and now they've suddenly crashed. Their players are all putting up similar numbers to past seasons and they've just fallen apart somehow.
8) Which player in the league has the most value after Bingo Smith?
Kobe: Magic Johnson.. lol nah Ill go with Derrick Dickey. 12 rpg, 2 spg and 5 bpg is insane and he is putting up 21 ppg on good %s. Dickey is only 26 and I don't see him going anywhere for a long time but if he was traded he would probably bring in more than any other player could right now. If Dickey ever gets better offensively it could be over for the league.
Aar: I think it's Eric Money. His ratings are insane and he's almost playing up to them. Dickey is also a stud, don't get me wrong, but I think Money at age 22 is an absolute stud. I know that the Lakers have thrown his name on the trade block and I don't agree with it at all.
9) Who would you pick with the Third Overall selection in the draft if you had it?
Kobe: Ehh I would probably trade back if I had the third pick. Theus probably makes the most sense off of notes, but it seems like there's a player like Theus in every draft. I would probably end up selecting Thompson, though his notes aren't great bigs are so much more valuable than wings. Spence made it seem like Theus had a lot of potential so he will probably end up being a great scorer. Its a tough choice, it would suck to pick Thompson and him bust while Theus became a B+ A or better scorer.
Aar: For some reason, Mo Cheeks really appeals to me. I love strong point guards who can rebound and fit into an inside offense. Thompson will likely go third overall, but I'd take a long look at Cheeks.
10) Which team do you hope ends up with the #1 pick in this year's draft and why?
Kobe: I'll say Celtics, though DBW will pick Magic he will probably have the toughest choice deciding between him and Bird.
Aar: Andy. He's had really bad luck and it's about time that he gets rewarded. Would love to see him move up. It'll probably end up being DJ and Magic will be a life-long Raptor.
