Insane is back!!! He had a great run with the Grizz and won a few ships with Steph Curry leading the charge. Then he took over Miami and was truly forgettable. Now he is back with the Grizz and looking to find the magic he had last time.
Welcome back. For the newer gms who don't remember you, give us some background on your previous time in BBS
Hm. I think I've been a member of BBS on and off for the past 2-3 years, dating back to the last version of BBS before this one. I think I started as the Spurs in the old version. Came over and GM'ed the Grizzlies in this version for about 30 seasons, came back and had the Heat for around 15 seasons and here I am again. I used to post a lot, and I usually am one of the more active members of the league.
I remember that you managed to get Steph Curry from me and that I thought that I got 2 really good young players (Tyler Honeycutt and Terrence jones maybe???). That trade won you a bunch of ships. Were you surprised how much the trade helped you?
I thought Jones was going to be a superstar and Honeycutt would be an elite scorer but they both never panned out so it turned out great for me. But no, I wasn't surprised, I knew that if I wanted to be successful I would need an elite 1 like Curry. The team as a whole just clicked midway through their first season together, I think they went on a 20+ game win streak after the all star break and steamrolled through the playoffs. As much as I hate to admit it, Curry was probably the heartbeat of the squad, couldn't have done it without him. (Barnes is still the best SF ever) (ed note - i hat terrence jones. i traded for him a bunch of times and he never failed to disappoint. meh.)
I remembered that you gmd the Grizz but forgot that you also gmd the Heat. Would you agree that your time with the heat was forgettable?
Yeah, I was bad as the Heat. Think I had a Finals appearance randomly, but overall didn't really do much. Part of it was I was too stubborn in wanting to hold onto Bradley Barker after I acquired him. Some GM's told me I should deal him for more rebuilding parts, but after I landed him I was too eager in wanting to build a contender around Barker like I did with Curry when I didn't have enough assets to do it. It was disheartening to suck so badly because I had some good success prior to that.
Why did you agree to take over the Grizz? They seem to be a mess with little tradable talent and few picks in the coming year. Are you surprised that they are competing for a playoff spot? Are you going to try and stay in the playoffs? What is your plan to get them out of this mess?
My favorite team IRL and I get to go back to where it all started. Why not? Almost all of BBS is tanking right now, so nah, I'm not surprised the Grizz are where they are in the standings. The situation with my picks is a little retarded though. But this team actually isn't bad at all, with efficient post players, a nice platoon at SF and a backcourt that can light any team up on any given day. From what I understand, some of these guys (namely the posts) are having career years so that may be why the team success is so surprising, but we've all seen what a good DC can do for certain players. I'm just playing it by ear right now, but I'll probably be rebuilding starting next season, with a few deals in the works to get my picks back.
Rank the three most valuable players on the Grizz
For those who've known me long enough, they know I think posts >>>> everything. However, for this team, the most valuable players go like this: Murphy > Gale > Hillman.
Murphy makes this team run smoothly, with double digit APG and very reasonable turnovers as well as the ability to score when he wants to. Gale is next because he is the focal point of the offense, very versatile dude with no real weaknesses. I love wings like Gale who can shoot, take it to the hoop, make plays, get boards and play D because that's how I try to play in real life. The 3rd most valuable is really a tossup between Hillman and Denton but I went with Hillman because blocks are huge in FBB.
What did you miss about BBS when you were gone? Any gms that are gone now that you would like to see back?
I didn't really miss anything too much, it's amazing how much free time I had when I didn't have to login to check BBS whenever I woke up. If I had to pick out one thing though, the banter I had with GM's on the boards was the only thing sorta missing from my life.
Um. Looking through the GM list, the only thing that really strikes out at me is Dan not being on it. Yeah, he should come back, a lot of his comments were pretty funny. And as for GM's who left before me , I'd like Mark to come back because he's one of the best I've seen.
top 5 current bbs gms?
Play. Pole. Aar. Broph. Skillz. no order
top 5 all time bbs gms?
Play. Mark. Pole. Aar. Broph. In the time I've been here.
5 most annoying gms
Nah. I don't really have a problem with anyone, every GM brings something to the league. But the GM's who say stuff that annoy me sometimes are Marty, Styro, HF, and Broph.
5 worst gms
I don't really know anymore. It seems a lot of the guys I used to consider to be bad (HF, Biggie, Game) have improved dramatically and I haven't been paying much attention to know who has dropped off and what the newer GM's bring to the league.
tell us 2 things that we don't know about you
I'm good at crossword puzzles and my favorite food are oyster po' boys.
Who is getting this ac?
Nobody on this roster.
I personally am getting sick of writing all of these interviews. What would make them more interesting?
Porn.
Bucks-Blazers finals? If not, who do you see getting there?
Bucks and Nuggets. History has shown if anyone can pull off a playoff upset, it's Greeme. and I didn't know how I should refer to you in the previous sentence lol.
Any gms you want to call out for stuff they do/don't do?
Play- Stop telling me to go on AIM and then not reply when I go on.
Greg- Please hold onto your stars and build around them, you should have rings by now.
Rank these players in order of value and explain – Money (lakers), bird (draft), magic (draft), mengelt (hawks), dickey (bulls), mo Malone (mavs)?
I'll try to make this easy to follow.
Dickey > Mengelt > Money > Bird > Malone > Magic
Magic's last because Spencer probably fucked up his ratings and I have a bad feeling he won't produce like he should.
The first three over Bird because they're in the league and already producing big numbers.
Bird over Malone because his ratings look amazing and Malone's inefficient right now and doesn't block shots.
Mengelt over Money because Mengelt is the best PG in the league and only 28 years old.
Dickey over Mengelt because posts >>>>>>>>>>>>. Oh, and 5 BPG.
Hype has been getting bashed for giving horrible trade offers. Say something nice about Hype
Hype makes amazing DC's and he's a funny guy on AIM.
