Greg has been a gm since the beginning of this BBS version. The main criticism against him is overvaluing depth. We caught up with him for some Q & A.
You have been in BBS since the beginning of this version. You seem to have had a lot of regular season success. Why can't you win it all? Was there a specific year that you thought that you had a good chance to win?
Well, according to popular opinion I dont value superstars enough. There may be some truth to that.
When I had Christian Gola and Slick Leonard in their primes with some other good players who's names escape me I thought I had a chance.
Gola got hurt before playoffs for 3 yrs in a row if I remember correctly killing any chances I had.
Got tired of him getting hurt and traded him for Raskaukas + something and of course he got hurt last sim too the following yr. Couldn't believe it.
That may have led to me overeacting and valuing depth too much.
Mo is coming off his rookie contract. Are you disappointed with him so far? Why or why not? Have you ever seriously considered moving Mo? Any truth to the rumor that he demanded a trade to Den?
First off,there's not a degree of truth to this so called rumor. As far as disappointed yea a little. I expected his D to go up more by now.
And he's foul prone. But he's still younger than a lot of rookies so you have to take that into consideration.
I really like Walter Davis but some seem to think that he was a reach. Who else were you thinking about and why did you take Walter in the end?
Honestly, I didn't like much of anything that was left at my pick. Tried to trade down but apparently I wasn't the only one that thought that.
Walter's notes looked as good as anyone elses' at that point.
Ira Terrell. The real deal or not? Is he going to get some time at sf?
Nah, think I'll keep him at PF or C. I think he may have a little something yea.

Eh, I dont feel the need to defend myself. The supposed depth many times ends up being the supposed quality I trade later for depth. I think it's more perception than reality.
Any chance that we will see Dallas in the playoffs this year ?
Nah, not unless we get lucky in FA or start overachieving.
Ideally I'd like to tank at least another yr.
The drafts have been getting harder to decipher the last few years. Is this good or bad?
Probably good. There should be a degree of the unknown as in RL.
Speaking of the draft pick one bust in the top 8 and one gem from 9-15?
I have a bad feeling about Michael Cooper busting.

Wali Jones, guy just stopped developing in his tracks.
Offense beats defense or vice versa? Why?
Usually defense wins I think.
Occasionally you'll get an off juggernaut but more often than not I think the better D wins.
rebounding is more important than blocked shots?
I'd say probably yea, unless it's just a ridiculous good SB team.

Weigh in on the gimmick argument. Should gms do everything they can to win under the existing rules? Anything you personally won't do?
I dont like gimmicks, I like it as close to realistic as possible. I'm hardheaded, I'd rather lose than use a gimmick.
What is your favorite part of the season?
Draft and TC, just the unknown is exciting. It's like gambling to me. I always like to add a rookie even with a low pick.
Just the excitement of not knowing what they'll do.

Yea, I'm weary of them also. I would honestly probably say I am. I never give up lottos or get CY'd but I dont win ships sadly either.
Why should Spencer put in the time to sim opening day by the time I get up tomorrow?
