Another GM that obviously needs no intro. The former GM of the Miluwakee Bucks, who guided them to 3 titles, and current GM of the Portland Trailblazers Brophdog88!
1. You are currently at 9-10. What's the plan looking like in the short term future?
Its looking like I should have fun this year, honestly, this team wouldnt beat the Magic/Bobcats even if I were to make a trade and get a PF, Ive got no chance, Bobby Jones is ready, and Fryer, but, Tree is going to need time still, he has sick underneath ratings, but its his lack of rebounding I gotta work with. This would only be my second year of tanking, so Im not too worried about making my CY yet, I mean, I'm picking up solid players like Chet, Cleamons, Hosket etc to try to improve the team. If I miss the playoffs, I love a 10-18 pick (its where I got Robinzine, Alf in the past, Jim Washington, etc), if I make the playoffs, well, I should still have that 14-18 pick, and a reset CY. Ill have a huge amount of cap space this offseason, and there are some guys coming that would be nice fits for this team in Kermit, Moses, Kenon, McGinnis, Caldwell Jones, and quietly I wouldnt mind getting Maurice Lucas...plus the vets coming out. Even if I strike out the Cap will be useful for getting depth.
2. Tree Rollins or Bernie Fryer. Who's going to be the man to lead the Blazers back to glory?
Its Tree, but really probably both, or neither I guess, My title teams have had what, Nene and Kaman, and Alf and AR up front, I have a tough time doing anything with an outside type offense, I just dont enjoy it. Tree already has pretty sick ratings, with this AC taking him over 85 inside, and a jump shot that will do the same if I ever decide to write the franchise power rankings AC. His strength and shotblocking are already there as well. He is trolling me right now with mehh percentages since I wanted to test him. Fryer is good though, and reminds me of Alexey Shved who was my PG for the last to, he doesnt turn it over, can score pretty well, (got injured this last sim, but even then his scoring wasnt great over the four games) and while his rebounding is pretty meh right now, that C cant be that far off. Dont ignore the greatness of Bobby Jones though.
3. Do you regret switching teams? Aside from the Blazers being your favorite team aspect of it, of course.
Do I wish I was still in Milwaukee? nah, I much prefer to be the Portland GM, the only thing I miss is being out east with all those guys. Ive never been Portland in a sim before, so this was a nice change for me, and outside the weird adjustment for me continually trying to type Bucks FA Bids, Bucks DC etc, its been a good change. The only thing I regret is I moved out here to compete with Marty, then Marty left.
4. West or East. Which is the tougher conference to compete in?
East, hands down. The West doesnt have the same quality of GMing that the East haves, nor does it have the potential...Not including me you have Habes at the top tier then what, Greeme? CC? Game? Styro? Its just so weak there, the drop off is pretty big. Out east you have Repole, Play, Skillz, Nanz, DBW, Aar, then, the drop off includes UK who is working his way up with good moves.
5. How much longer do you want to be in sim leagues?
As long as there are commishes like Spencer around, he does a great job, no doubt and makes the league go. I will probably transition over to FBB2 when its time finally comes, but I really dont know past that...as long as I am still enjoying them I will stay in them.
6. You've been shitted on by countless GM's lately. Play called you a back stabbing bitch. Stryo and HF have also shit on you in articles. Any responses?
Not really, I pissed play off unintentionally, I dont remember it now but I didnt mean to, and Im sorry. HF I talk to all the time on AIM, he enjoys taking shots cause I bite to easily (though its funny the whiny bitch once talked about how many unnecessary shots I take)
Styro is a bitch, but honestly its been expected, he talks a big game but has nothing to back it up. Never
7. You made an interesting comment recently, saying "repole is getting overrated by Bingo". In your opinion, where should repole realistically be ranked and what should the opinion on repole realistically be?
No doubt should easily be top two, I cant say whether I would give him the edge on Play, but, over the recent period he has still been the best GM, but people are suddenly acting like the man is a god amongst men, and untouchable as a GM. He isnt, he is the beneficiary of the greatest player in league history (Bingo is Gerald Wallace, only with an A outside shot instead of a C+, seriously, thats absurd, cause G Wall was beyond amazing). Repole made nice moves locking up Willie Davis when many misjudged him, but, the man is a great player, its not in question. However, he doesnt have the issue of going out and finding that second and third stud, look at the Bobcats, the GMing it took to build that team was far more impressive than the GMIng it took to build the Magic, wit4h Bingo there was no real risk of failure, if you made a bad move (Mel daniels) you would survive just fine. The Bobcats got Hayes (stud), Thurmond (stud), Issel (stud), Steele ( a great role player), and Frazier (who is still a stud, just not being used because he isnt necessary). Yet the Magic are the team getting due because Bingo makes repoles job easy. You cant tell me that getting rid of scorers so Bingo can do 43 points a game is good GMing...seriously, trading away scorers so I can put it all to one guy? thats illogical, but, in this case, because its Bingo, you can do anything you want as long as he is healthy. I would love to see that Magic team with say, Bobby Jones at SF, just to see how good it is still. Then, take away Bobby and make it a league average SF.
8. What kind of job do you believe aar has done with your old Bucks? Could you have done better?
Aar did a good job, its not in question, I just think he shoulda made bigger moves earlier...he sat too long, and hell, even now, he focused his intention on getting those 8 firsts from OKC, but gave up nice pieces in the process (John Lucas). He should be trying to cash in while Walton still is on his rookie deal, I dont know what that will get him, but Walton/Hillman/Kauffman is a nice start, he could use a PG and a SG though if he wants to try to be elite.
9. On that note, describe to me your ideal or perfect team.
Look at the Bobcats, but take away Keye and give me a Buntin, or Hosket as a backup Big. The ability to put a stud C/PF/SF on the floor, and still have that stud PG with a sick role playing SG? its my perfect team, blocks, rebounds incredibly low turnovers, FT shooting. The team is perfect, its just a matter of experimenting all year til you find the perfect DC.
10. Which guys are the worst to talk trade with?
DJ, the Beaty discussions that took place forever killed me, kept thinking ok Im close then never getting him, I hate that his GMing is working, but it is, and good on him for that. After that I cant say anybody really, which probably means everybody secretly hates me
11. Moving away from disliking GM's, who do you actually like?
Pretty much everybody, I hold no ill will toward any GM, outside I guess DJ, but yeah. Oh and DeWayne...I hate ineptness, but moreso than ineptness, I hate his inability to accept the fact that signing Tart was idiotic, and that he continually argued how it didnt affect him. Since we were moving away from Disliking GM's though, the other 26, even Marty I guess, he is a solid GM now no doubt, even if a bit frustrating, he has been less so lately.
12. Pre-notes, obviously, are you looking forward to this draft?
I am, but thats because I figure on picking in the 10-20 range, and this draft appears to have decent looking players down that far...if I were picking at 2 or 3 I would be pretty ehh on it right now, but Im not right now. Sikma pending notes could be exciting.
13. BBS champs will be....
I cant go against Bingo, though I think the Bobcats are the most well rounded+are pretty much my favorite team in the league right now.
14. First Brandon Roy then Greg Oden. Fuck is happening in Portland?
Well, really it was first Oden, then Roy, but yeah, training staff sucks ass. Toss in that Paul Allen has no idea what he wants and the entire team is pretty much directionless, no GM for over a year (an interim, but not a real one), no coach. But hey, cap space maybe two lottos and Aldridge!
15. Speaking of Oden, he said he wants to play in Miami. How do you feel about that?
Good for him, I hope he goes on and is able to play in the league still. It didnt work for Portland, but I cant put the blame on him, his knees wouldnt cooperate. Sure he had some issues himself, but really so does every player transitioning I'm sure. If he can get healthy, (huge if), he would be a great player.
