1) Indiana Pacers select Micheal Ray Richardson PG 6'5'' 189 21 B C A- A- C+ A
MRR looks to be the most intriguing player in the draft and undoubtedly enters with the highest ratings.
According to the notes on him, he has "huge potential" and I'm really not sure how that could be a re-direct.
Even if he starts off with some TO issues, the rest of his game should compensate. He reminds me a lot of Rajon Rondo in terms of his ratings and body type.
I personally think that he should be a lock for the top pick
2) L.A. Lakers select Adrian Dantley SF 6'5'' 208 20 A- C+ D+ C+ C+ A
The Lakers would have a tough decision between Dantley and Rollins, but ultimately select Dantley as a perfect compliment to Kenon.
If Dantley pans out, you're looking at a 25 ppg type scorer and while his defense won't be there right away, it should be eventually.
A core of Lanier, Kennedy, Dantley, Kenon and Money is money and it would be hard to pass up.
3) Cleveland Cavaliers select Tree Rollins C 7'1'' 235 21 B- C D- A- B- A
The Cavs take the best of what's left with Rollins in what looks to be a pretty consensus top-3.
Rollins looks to be a huge defensive stopped whose offense should be serviceable off the bat.
Early comparisons are pointing to Nate Thurmond, who Marty is very familiar with.
The notes indicate that his weaknesses won't really impact him as much as if he had weaknesses in other areas.
4) The Philadelphia 76ers select Dennis Johnson PG 6'4'' 185 22 B C C+ A- C B
The 76ers need to start winning and the best way to do that is by adding defense and efficiency. Johnson should provide both.
He may not score in buckets early on, but should do a good job leading the team to victories and getting the other players involved.
Johnson's notes indicate that he'll be a stats defender, which increases his value around the league by a ton.
Seems like a very safe pick.
5) The New Orleans Hornets select Robert Parish C 7'0'' 230 23 B- C- D B B A
The Hornets need help everywhere, but can't help but smile when The Chief is on the board at five.
Their frontcourt is absolutely wretched and they shore it up by taking a player who can provide a little bit of everything.
He certainly won't blow people away early on, but definitely will eventually and that's what the Hornets want.
Another low-risk pick.
6) The Boston Celtics select Alex English SG 6'7'' 190 22 B+ C+ C C C A
English looks pretty raw and one-dimensional, but given the real-life Hall of Fame career of Alex English, this seems like it would be a good pick.
The worst thing that could happen is that his handles, defense and rebounding never evolve and then he would truly be a one-dimensional scorer.
I think that he's exactly the type of player that you'd want at this spot.
7) The Milwaukee Bucks select John Lucas PG 6'3'' 175 23 C B B+ A- D B
Lucas looks like a really solid, efficient point guard and while he has some glaring weaknesses - namely his rebounding and three-point shooting - he looks like a guy who will be able to start right away and has upside.
While this pick doesn't make a ton of sense for the Bucks, who have an up and coming Al Skinner, Lucas looks like the best person left on the board.
Looks to be a boom or bust prospect who needs a good TC or two to be a top-15 starter at PG.
8) Chicago Bulls select James Edwards C 7'0'' 225 20 B C- D B- C+ A
Edwards looks like a guy who can drop 15/8 right off the bat and will improve to become even better.
Age-wise, he's on the lower end and that's a plus.
If his potential ends up being really high, he could be the second-best big man in this draft.
Like Lucas, he's a bit of a boom or bust prospect.
9) Portland Trail Blazers select Quinn Buckner PG 6'3'' 190 22 B- C+ B- A C- B
The Blazers need a floor general who does a little bit of everything and that description suits Buckner.
With a few improvements and ACs, Buckner can end up being B B+ A- A+ C- C, which would make him one of the top point guards ratings-wise in the league.
Those ratings aren't out of the question and if he gets there, he could be a perennial All-Star.
Definitely a solid pick if he lasts this long.
10) Milwaukee Bucks select Sonny Parker SF 6'6'' 200 21 B+ C C+ A- C+ B
Parker doesn't look like he'll be a superstar or even an All-Star, but it looks like he'll be a very well-rounded player.
It's always a plus when you see "Amazing ball handler" in someone's notes and I think that could help Parker move up.
The thing that will scare teams off is that he's a good jumper.
11) Boston Celtics select Johnny Davis PG 6'2'' 170 21 B C+ C+ B C- B
The Celtics have terrible point guards, albeit intentionally and Davis looks like another player who could be very good with the right amount of help.
Davis looks like he'll be a solid player in the mold of Em Bryant or James Silas who can be either a great backup or a decent starter off the bat.
Davis has underwhelming notes for the most part, but his ratings can compensate for that.
12) San Antonio Spurs select Bob Wilkerson SG 6'6'' 195 22 B B C C+ C B
Another very safe looking player who can do a bit of everything.
His notes are vague, but appear to be all positive.
At the 12th pick, he looks like a guy who can contribute even with his current ratings and that's often more than you can ask.
13) Houston Rockets select Wally Walker SF 6'7'' 190 22 B C C A- C B
Walker is a player who seems to have a lot of weaknesses and is only getting picked here because I'm going by Jordan's rankings as if they're his actual draft board.
Walker doesn't look like a guy who will give you good stats on defense and looks like a poor shooter.
Not very intriguing at all...
