Records that have been broken during the 2038 season up to day 110.
ATLANTIC DIVISION
Boston Celtics
Team Record Broken- 24 Blocks
The Celtics eclipsed their team high for blocks during the 2038 season on day 19 against KAJ and the Nuggets. Three players combined to break the record. Bill Buntin recorded 10 blocks alone followed up by Bill Russel with 8 and Darrall Imhoff with 6. Boston dominated the game with a winning margin of 47, 76 rebounds, 24 blocks, and shot over 50%. The Celtics are currently 3rd in BPG and it is not a susrprise they broke their team record with that solid front court.
New York Knicks
Team Record Broken – 19 3 Pointers
In the most recent sim the Knicks shot extremely well from deep shooting 19 for 31. Heading the 3 point attack was Bill Bradley with 7, Roger Strickland had 6, and newly acquired SG, Gail Goodrich, pitching in with 6. The Knicks have been running an outside attack this season and it looks like its working. Unfortunate for them they have been hit with injuries late in the season. NYKs rolled over KAJ and the Nuggets 145-118.
Orlando Magic
Team Record Broken – 27 Blocks
Record Broken – 13 Blocks – Rudy LaRusso
The Magic are leading the league with 12.9 BPG and better yet Rudy achieved 13 on his own late in the season against the Cavaliers. Both of these feats occurred in the same game on day 71. As with tradition the Magic rolled to an easy victory over their opponent 132-89. The other major contributors on the defensive end were Jerry Lucas and Ray Scott with 6 and 5 blocks respectively. Rudy is currently averaging 4 BPG which is good enough for 3rd in the league. LaRusso recorded a triple double with a line of 25/15/13. Back to Back Titles?
CENTRAL DIVISION
Charlotte Bobcats
Team Record Broken – 17 3Ps
Record Broken – 42 FGA – Larry Jones
Record Broken – 25 FG - Larry Jones
Charlottes star Larry Jones awoke for some big time scoring against the NYKs. Larry finished with 63 points on 25 of 42 shooting. From the three point line the team went 17 for 27 and Larry accounted for 10 of those long range shots. The Bobcats beat the Knicks by 16 but have been mediocre over the season. Larry currently leads the league in scoring with 37.3 PPG a night.
Chicago Bulls
Record Broken – 25 FG – Oscar Robertson
Record Broken – 68 Points – Oscar Robertson
Day 19 was the day that Oscar Robertson put on a show in the Windy City. At the PG position Robertson dominates and it showed by putting up nearly half of the teams total points. His stat line from this night is off the charts. 25 for 40 shooting, 14/15 FTs, 68 points, 11 rebounds, 11 assists, paired with a block and steal and only one turnover while playing the entire 48 minutes. Bulls rolled over the 76ers 146-122. Considering the players that have competed in Chicago breaking any team records is incredible.
Detroit Pistons
Record Broken – 11 3 Pointers – Rayford Wells
In a game that took place nearing the all star break, Wells decided to start tossing it up from long range. What is impressive about the 11 3 pointers made is that he only needed to shoot 12. Rayford finished the night off with 45 points on 16 of 20 shooting. The Pistons finished strong and with a road win over the 76ers.
MIDWEST DIVISION
Denver Nuggets
Record Broken – 24 FTA – Kareem Abdul-Jabbar
KAJ is a stud. This is not the only record he will break on the Nuggets. I don’t think this record is anything special considering he only made 12 of the 24 and to be honest I don’t get excited when I see a player with a lot of FTAs. KAJ is second in the league in FTAs / game and converts on 65% of them so this was below average for the without-a-doubt ROTY. Kareem did have a great game tho with 38 points and 21 rebounds.
Houston Rockets
Record Broken – 24 Assists – Al Attles
Day 50 featured a high scoring matchup between the Rockets and the Nets. A lot of big time plays including that of PG Al Attles. AA didn’t do much scoring finishing with only 8 points but he contributed with other areas of the game including 9 rebounds and an incredible 24 assists. Attles is middle of the pack in assists leaders throughout the league averaging 10.3 a game. Unfortunately the Rockets were outscored 143-136 and were defeated.
Minnesota Timberwolves
Record Broken – 9 3 Pointers – Frank Ramsey
Damn, Ramsey has still got it even at 37 years of age. This bag of bones hit a hot streak and converted on 9 of 14 3PAs. Ramsey lead all players with 42 points in this 16 point win over the Bulls. Frank is averaging 18 points, 5 rebs, 4 assists, nearly 2 steals and on great percentages. I’d bet he will be around next year to collect that 21 mill and be the oldest starter in BBS?
PACIFIC DIVISION
Los Angeles Lakers
Record Broken – 10 3 Pointers – Hal Greer
I know another 3 point record but this guy had the best night of them all. In 36 minutes of play Greer managed to shoot 31 times converting on 20 including 10 3 pointers out of 14 3PAs. 7 for 8 from the line, 7 assists, 4 steals, 1 block… 57 points. The Lakers combined with the Bobcats to nearly score 300 points in a win for the West, Jerry Coast. Hal is tearing it up and will continue to.
Oklahoma City Thunder
Record Broken – 25 FGs – Jon McGlocklin
I didn’t have to look far for this great performance. I remembered this game because it occurred in San Antonio. JMC has become a stud scorer with a knack for high volume and efficiency. He worked the Spurs for 59 points on 25 of 36 shooting including 3 for 4 from behind the arc. McGloklin added 6 rebounds and the same amount of assists to his stat line before the Thunder won 123-115. Jon is at the end of his rookie deal and expecting big money for his talents.
