1. Elgin Baylor
Stats: 32.9 PPG 9.8 RPG 5.7 APG 2 SPG .479 FG% .859 FT% .430 3P%
Sorry Skillz, Baylor just does too many more things better than Green for me to put Green #1. Years later, scientists will determine that this version of Baylor is probably the perfect small forward. He makes free throws, sticks treys, boards, passes, steals, finishes well, and scores at an insanely high volume. Outlawz needs to do something about his point guard situation as soon as possible to get the most out of Baylor and his team. I mean, Baylor, White and Parker is a sick trio, but playing Parker at a position where he averages 3.9 turnovers is not the way to maximize his situation.
2. Johnny Green
Stats: 34.2 PPG 9.6 RPG .534 FG% .716 FT%
If Elgin Baylor did not exist, Johnny Green would be the best small forward in BBS right now hands down. 34/10, on 53% FG? Nasty. The most efficient player in the league who also has that high of a usage rating. And have you ever heard of Johnny Green traveling, double-dribbling, charging or turning it over in any other way? No? Me neither. That's because this dude limits his turnovers like no other, averaging a sparkling 1 turnover per game. His midrange game seems like it needs some work as he goes to the line the most in the league, but doesn't make the free throws as often as he should.
3. Sam Jones
Stats: 24.5 PPG 9.0 RPG 4.1 APG 2.1 SPG .533 FG% .829 FT%
Going Jones over Hollis here because Jones is much more efficient from the field and a more dynamic player because of his passing. Putting up 25 a game on a team like the Rockets is no easy feat, but Jones makes it look easy because he gets his by going inside and attacking the gaps that defenses leave for him because they're paying so much attention to Hot Rod outside and Lucas' man can't leave him alone inside. Having good teammates really does make your life so much easier.
4. Dean Hollis
Stats: 32.7 PPG 8.9 RPG .472 FG% .889 FT% .443 3P%
One of the best small forwards of all time is still doing it big at the age of 32. He puts up volume, and he puts it up big time, with little to no error as he only has 1.6 turnovers a game. Like Journey, he'll give it to you any way you want it: mid-range, from downtown, in the post, off of offensive rebounds, free throws, or in transition. It doesn't matter because in the end, he will get his, and his check will be on the bench because he fouled out or just simply could not keep up.
5. Tanner Thompson
Stats: 24.1 PPG 6.5 RPG 5.1 APG 2.6 SPG .478 FG% .875 FT% .461 3P%
You don't hear much about him because Nanz is an inactive POS (jk), but Tanner Thompson just goes out and roasts other teams all day. The epitome of an all around swingman, he can hurt you in so many ways because he's so well-rounded. He's got the trey, he can take you off the dribble, and when those aren't going for him, he can make plays for his teammates. Did I mention he defends like a beast?
6. Lorenzo Carr
Stats: 23.4 PPG 8.8 RPG 4.0 APG 2.5 SPG .463 FG% .835 FT% .385 3P%
Carr might be the unsung hero of the Bulls recent title runs. When Purnell is down, you can count on Carr producing quietly as he always has done. Like Thompson, no one talks about him, but he's out there doing it all night in and night out. He combines the ability to cause havoc in the passing lanes with the capability to lock his man down one-on-one on the perimeter. Carr's D is just too tight, there's no breathing room, a large reason for why the Bulls are the 2nd best defensive team in the league. Think about this, the Bulls are 21-4 while shooting .459 from the field as a whole. What happens when they start making their shots?
7. Chet Walker
Stats: 27.1 PPG 8.2 RPG 3.4 APG .470 FG% .829 FT%
Possibly the next Dean Hollis? The ratings and stats sure point that way so far. If we go by what the scouts say, Chet can be even better than a prime Hollis. Imagine that. Rumor is that he heard about some disparaging remarks the Lakers GM made about him and took it upon himself to prove everyone wrong. He's on the right track, as there is no sophomore slump for this young man. 27/8/3 in his second season, what will opponents do and how will coaches game plan for Chet when he develops a 3 pt shot? Lights out. I will have to say Thunder GM Aaron Haberlame has one of the best prospects BBS has ever seen.
8. JJ Erving
Stats: 31.4 PPG 7.4 RPG .473 FG% .768 FT% .428 3P%
This is the lowest I could possibly put a 31 PPG scorer with the kind of resume that JJ Erving has. He does play for a shitty team, but he's been doing numbers for awhile now, on some pretty good teams to boot. He's really good offensively, but I could do without the turnovers and the free throw percentage is a little dicey.
9. George Lee
Stats: 24.8 PPG 4.8 RPG 3.7 APG .487 .892 .455
I had to choose 2/3 guys left and Lee was the best of them because of the percentages. Mediocre defensively, but once that 3pt shot was added, he's become unstoppable on offense.
10. Dick Barnett
Stats: 24.2 PPG 5.6 RPG 4.4 APG .473 FG% .831 FT% .450 3P%
Jack Twyman just missed the cut because Barnett's percentages are so much better. Twyman's team is a lot better, though. Barnett will be a big part of HF's team next year if they are going to compete.
