CM9 is cyanogenmod's edition of Ice Cream Sandwich. They just released a build for my phone with just about everything working apparently. Just DL'd it but I'm chilling... wanna read comments first Smart move. Always sit back and hear horror stories first. lol real talk but CM team are very good at what they do. The most famous group of android developers for sure. But my rom right now is working perfectly so I'm chilling. I'll probably back up my phone and flash this tonight/tomorrow

Look up your phone here forum.xda-developers.com/they probably have a bunch of threads that teach you how to flash roms and such. Assuming that most android phones are hacked/modded in the same way, it's actually really simple after the first few times if you need clarification on anything hit me up and I will try to help I have the htc evo and the samsung galaxy s2...ill probably want to rom the evo since its my backup phone and i dont use it that much

good idea.. definitely safer to play on the phone you don't use as much.. but honestly once you get that custom recovery flashed the likelihood of bricking your phone is slim to none so I wouldn't worry too much (for Jay.. though I figure he's just kidding) Evo community runs deep. A lot of roms over there and it's still active. Check out this thread. Appears to have everything you need forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=865204Be sure to read everything carefully. I quickly glanced over the thread and the method is a little different from what I did with my phone but it ultimately does the same thing.

I'll probably do it today. A bit tired of the fucking pre-loaded shit.

After following the directions, that's it.. you'll never have to do it root/unlock bootloader/flash custom recovery unless you revert everything back to stock. So it's nice in that way. Just go through a few steps and your ready to flash custom roms Also if you still feel like you need extra guidance, YouTube! you'll easily find rooting vids for any phone on there

Most custom roms come pre-rooted though. So once you flash the custom recovery/unlock your bootloader you can completely skip the rooting process if you wanted (again, assuming you want to flash a custom rom)
