Observations:
-The shooting guard position is definitely not as deep as I thought it was. While the top 20 is filled with players that can help teams, the position thins out a lot towards the bottom. I almost feel like I'm missing players because this list is so thin.
-The position has also changed a lot recently. Tracy Parker (8) was once thought to be the best shooting guard in the league, but he is having a bad year when it comes to efficiency. Douglas Washington (6), meanwhile, is starting to shed his label as somewhat of a bust. Also, whatever happened to Paul Arizin (9) and his dominance?
-The top of the crop is loaded. You could pretty much make a case for anyone in the top 10 to be # 1. There seem to be a lot of great shooting guards but no one that is truly elite.
-Purnell Jackson (1) is a top five point guard, but he may be an even better fit at shooting guard. He is scoring at a high rate and doing so efficiently. Not to mention, he never turns it over and plays great defense. To me, he's the clear cut # 1.
-Kevin White's (4) rebounding at the shooting guard is unbelievable. I think he is one of the better players in the league at the shooting guard spot.
-The shooting guard spot seems to be a good position for the young guns. Si Green (3) , Hot Rod Hundley (12), Don Ohl (15), Vern Hatton (17), George Lee, (18) and Rayford Wells (20) all have great futures ahead of them.
-Unsurprisingly, the most successful shooting guards are outside oriented. With the exception being Jackson, of course.
-I think Neremiah Harrison (13) is one of the more underrated players in the league. Had he not been on the Warriors, I'm sure a team could have made him a valuable asset in an outside offense. Absolute stud scorer.
-Frank Ramsey (5) is a whore.
