Fresh off stepping off the plane General Manager Akomplice walked into the Golden State front office and proclaimed the following words "This shit aint working for me" and actively got to work in constructing the team the way he see fit. Looking at the roster you see some talent, but mismanaged talent for sure. When speaking about the previous GM Game, Akomplice had this to say "I guess he had a change of heart, because his love for this sim strayed far away".
So one day into the new job the Warriors started searching the market to see what was out there. To the GM's surprise originally it was Lear that attracted the most attention to other GM's. After talking to a few GM's around the league the Warriors took to late first round picks in this draft instead of waiting ten years for a first. Lear ended up going to the Knicks in exchange for the Bulls and Hornets first round picks. Many people are quick to down talk about the draft because it's top heavy, but usually in every draft there are a few players that fall and GM's go crazy in trying to acquiring the pick. The Warriors don't view Lear as a point guard at all nor did they ever envision him becoming a starter on the team with both Rider and Harrison on the team.
The second trade the Warriors completed was with the New Jersey Nets in which they sent out Vern Mikkelsen and in return received Reese and Haynes, but again the main pieces of the deal were the first round picks. The Wolves first round pick this year giving the team three first round picks in this draft and the Hornets first next year. Mikkelsen is a solid player, but again another player with no future with the team. There are a lot of teams in which Mikkelsen fits on, but when a team is running an outside focus Mikkelsen looks like a deer in headlights, totally worthless. All he provided was rebounds in which the Warriors can easily replace. More importantly the Warriors dumped his contract, while not an albatross it was a contract that had another few years on it and they took the chance to dump salary.
Continuing to keep the ball rolling and reshaping of the team the Warriors were enticed by the trade frenzy that was taking the league by storm. They put Alf Sjoberg and his remaining 126 million dollars on the block to see what type of offers came in. A bunch of teams were offering big expiring contracts, considering such was needed as Alf was making a ton of money this year. Alf generated quite a lot of interest very early on, however the Warriors were looking to get a big man with some talent. They were offered a guard as part of a main deal, they were offered a small forward as part off a deal but eventually settled on the Grizzlies trade package. In this deal they received the big expiring contract of Jonas Valanciunas, but the Warriors are looking at him as much more than an expiring contract. In the remaining 11 games the Warriors generally do believe they can make the playoffs and that he can be a big part of that. They also received Ray Felix who is injured and expiring, but the Warriors are cautiously optimistic about the future he can provide with the team. The Warriors will work closely with the Felix's agent and try to bring him back to the team. They also received the OKC 2035 first, while being a few years away you never know what those picks will turn into. This deal has created quite a stir around the league, but mostly because some teams lost out on Alf. The Warriors do realize that they traded away a talented player, but this FBB game isn't new to them. They know how to build a team and they will do that over the course of the next few years.
The final deal that the Warriors made was to bolster their bench, considering one of their best players has been injured they felt the need to fill that void. They shipped off Trobow's hospital bed in exchange for the carcass of Harrison Barnes. Barnes is no longer the star that he used to be, but he can contribute off the bench and that's all the Warriors are looking for from him. They need him to play 15-20 minutes a game and take good shots, something they believe he can do. Considering their getting him for a second round pick, you can't go wrong with this deal.
In just one day the Warriors GM has cleared off 188 million dollars in the future, something the owner is quite happy with. On top of that they will be in position to be players in the free agent market as they cleared away a ton of salary in just one day. The free agent market at the moment could have a few good names, but a lot of it depends on the decision on Felix. The bottom line is this, the old GM is gone and there is a new GM in town. He has a plan and will stick with it, he will do everything he can to bring a winning product to the bay.
