I dont program, so I could be wrong, but I would definitely think you want to do the big features and stuff before you get down to fixing stats and stuff with the engine Eh not necessarily. Personally I like to make sure the engine is near perfect before really moving on, to me anything you build around a shit foundation is worthless. But if he's confident that he can tweak the stats and that his general engine logic is sound, then yeah, working on the big picture stuff is fine. Seeing as the engine is based on the college hoops game, I'd assume he feels good about it in general and only needs to tweak a few things. Not getting the engine down first though is how you end up with games like NBA Live instead of 2k yeah this

Ultimately, a team that passes well should get better shots and thus shoot a higher%. If nobody on the team is a good passer then you need people who can create their own shot. The PG's passing skill shouldn't affect their own shooting unless its because they are so bad at passing that they keep getting stuck with the ball at the end of the shot clock and have to put up a bad shot. I'll also be looking at how to make it possible for say your SF to lead the team in assists if he's the best passer on the team.

Long time no update ....So I'll try to provide more updates from here on out. I've been working hard on the code that allows the game to support multiple leagues at once. Going back and converting code that was designed to only handle one league has been a significant process but it is mostly done. It also took me forever to figure out how I wanted to lay out the available options when starting a new game but I finally came up with something that I'm pretty happy with. The end result of all this is I've added 4 leagues to the game so far: NBA, ABA, NBDL, and Italy's Serie A. The three American leagues have full historical settings for league structure so the process of expansion and team movement in the correct years can be fully automated. The game will also automatically update league rules like the salary cap for you each year if you enable the option. Currently ABA teams will leave for the NBA in 1976 but I still need to add code to make the league fold. Coming work will include adding more leagues as well as adding code for how the leagues can interact. For instance it will be possible to set up promotion and relagation between leagues and it will be possible to specify one league as a developmental league of another league.

All leagues will use the same schedule periods so they will play the regular season starting at the end of October and finish up in mid April. It should be possible to specify the number of games that each league will play so if you want one league to play a reduced schedule that is an option. You would also have the option to add teams to any league during the offseason each year. The news items are still in the game and there will be new stuff added to each of the possible articles.
