1. Atlanta Hawks - Anfernee Hardaway SG 6'7'' 195 22 B C+ C+ C C A
Penny Hardaway is easily the top player in this draft. He is immensely talented and can pretty much do anything offensively and has the ability to be a decent defender as well. Hardaway can play 1,2 or 3 and be an All Star type player at all 3 positions. Expect him to be an elite scorer with the ability to be a #1 option on a good team.
2. Orlando Magic - Allan Houston SG 6'6'' 200 22 C B+ C C D+ A
Allan Houston is pretty raw but he can shoot the lights out. He should be an excellent 3 point shooter and be a legit #1 option. Houston is raw in most areas besides shooting but he is loaded with upside and really should become a B- A type scorer. He wont ever be an elite defender, might not even make All League teams, but he will be very good for a long time.
3. San Antonio Spurs - Jamal Mashburn SF 6'8'' 240 20 B B C C+ C B
Jamal Mashburn is a very good scorer and should score 20 PPG as a rookie. He can score inside and out. Hes got a nice post game, and he likes to shoot the 3. Very well balanced offensive player. Defensively hes mediocre, doesn't offer much there. His upside is questionable. Some scouts think his lack of athleticism means he cant get better. Others think hes knowledge of the offensive game will make him a 20+ PPG guy for the duration of his career.
4. New York Knicks - Sam Cassell PG 6'3'' 185 23 C+ B+ C+ C+ D+ B
The Knicks already have a very good looking PG in Terrell Brandon but at this point in the draft Sam Cassell is probably the best player available. The other players in this area are flawed enough that it doesn't make sense to reach. Cassell can come in right away at SG for the Knicks and give them a very good 2nd option scorer and nice distributor. They might need to develop him some and move him for another position eventually, or maybe even move TB.
5. Phoenix Suns - Vin Baker PF 6'11'' 232 21 B+ C D+ C+ C B
The Suns need someone that can impact their team in 1993 a must win year for them. Baker doesn't defend like you'd want ideally, but his scoring prowess could be very helpful. Baker is someone who can play 4, or maybe even 3 in a slower, inside type offense. In the right scenario he could average 20-8 as a rookie.
6. Dallas Mavericks - Shawn Bradley C 7'6'' 235 21 C C- D+ B- C A
The Mavericks need to take a chance, and they need a legit C with some height. Shawn Bradley fits both pretty well. An above average athlete considering his size, Bradley has a ton of upside. While he is very raw he does possess one skill that is very coveted in the BBS, shot blocking. Bradley can already block 2-3 a game. With some RC attention Bradley could be a very good starting C.
7. Boston Celtics - Bryon Russell SF 6'7'' 225 22 C+ C+ C- B+ C B
The Celtics really need a big time scorer that can play SG. Unfortunately that doesn't exist at this spot. Instead they get someone who can score a little and defend a lot. Russell will come in as a starter from Day 1 at SG and he should add some consistency offensively and defensively for the struggling Celtics franchise.
8. Denver Nuggets - Nick Van Exel PG 6'1'' 170 21 C B+ C+ C D B
Nick the Quick is a intriguing player. He doesn't have a pretty jump shot but it is effective. He isn't a big time passer, but he can handle and dish a bit. He isnt a good defender and probably never will be. But he has some upside and if he's RC'd correctly he could be a starter some day.
9. Milwaukee Bucks - Ervin Johnson C 6'11'' 245 25 C+ D D B+ B- B
Johnson is a nice shot blocker and rebounder. Not gonna be a scorer, but he should defend and board enough to be a starter. Too much value to the Bucks to pass on here.
10. New Orleans Hornets - Rodney Rogers PF 6'7'' 235 22 B B- D+ C C C
The Hornets need to win, and Rogers can do one thing well, thats score. Its possible Rogers could start for the Hornets, but he'd be better as a backup that shoots a lot when he's in the game. Could score 20 as an option starter.
11. Golden State Warriors - Calbert Cheaney SF 6'7'' 209 22 C+ C C B C B
Calbert Cheaney is a solid defender with a nice mid range game. He'll never be a star, but he should be a very good starter and a good compliment to Glen Rice and Mark Jackson.
12. Washington Wizards - Malcolm Mackey PF 6'9'' 248 23 B- D+ C- C+ C+ A
The Wizards take a flier here on Malcolm Mackey. Kind of an unknown Mackey has shown well in workouts recently and is flying up draft charts. Mackey is extremely athletic and strong. An impressive dunker Mackey is someone to watch out for.
13. Atlanta Hawks (from the Miami Heat) - Bobby Hurley PG 6'0'' 165 22 C C B- C D A
At this point its take a role player or take a risk. Hurley is the latter. A solid player at Duke Hurley was a top 10 player at one point but during individual workouts he looked slow and seemed to lack confidence. The Hawks look pass that though and see someone who won a lot of games in college. They see him as a true leader.
14. New York Knicks (from the Memphis Grizzlies) - Corie Blount PF 6'9'' 240 24 C+ D+ D B B- B
Corie Blount brings some solid defense and some good rebounding. He isnt an offensive force, but he is good enough defensively and on the glass that he could become a starter one day.
15. Dallas Mavericks (from the Houston Rockets) - George Lynch SF 6'8'' 218 23 B- C C B C+ C
Lots of scouts love George Lynch's game. Hes strong, rugged and extremely tough. His game is really more in the style of a PF, but he isnt big enough to play there. Lynch should be a very solid starter and maybe even more.
16. Cleveland Cavaliers - Doug Edwards SF 6'7'' 220 23 C+ C C B- C A
The Cavs need a young impact player and they hope Doug Edwards is that guy. A very good player in college Edwards seems to lack the athleticism of those around him, hes just someone who produces. A solid scorer and defender Edwards should be a ncie player for Cleveland.
17. Atlanta Hawks (from the Oklahoma City Thunder) - Lindsey Hunter PG 6'2'' 170 22 C C+ C+ A- C- C
Lindsey Hunter is all about hard work and defense. He loves the challenge of locking down his opposing player and usually comes out on the better end of it. Unfortunately Hunter is a very mediocre offensive player and he doesn't show much room for improvement.
18. Toronto Raptors - Chris Mills SF 6'6'' 215 23 C B- C- B- C+ B
The raps are getting older so they need some solid youth. here they grab a very solid player in Chris Mills. Mills can shoot, defend and board. With some RCs he could be a solid starter in BBS.
19. Charlotte Bobcats - Chris Whitney PG 6'0'' 168 22 C B C+ C+ D B
Whitney is a solid PG who can shoot and pass. Maybe not starter quality but definately a rotation guy. The Bobcats might need him to start if they can finally move Isiah Thomas.
20. New York Knicks (from the Chicago Bulls) - Scott Burrell PG 6'7'' 218 22 C C+ C B- C B
The Knicks just want to add some solid young player to build around. Burrell isn't a world beater, but he has a solid game and he should be a starter on this bad Knicks squad. Burrell can score and defend a little and should get better.
21. Minnesota Timberwolves - Gheorghe Muresan C 7'7'' 303 22 C+ C- F C+ C+ B
The Wolves arent sure about Joe Wolf at C going into the future so they take who they feel has the best shot to replace him with Gheorghe Muresan. Hes tall and he can block shots. What more could you want?
22. Miami Heat (from the Los Angeles Clippers) - Lucious Harris SG 6'5'' 190 22 C+ B- C B C C
The Heat need a better wing to pair with Toni Kukoc. Doug Christie might be the answer, but just in case he isn't Lucious Harris will be a nice insurance policy. Harris can score and defend a little and he was a pretty solid college player.
23. Portland Trail Blazers - Acie Earl C 6'10'' 240 23 B- D+ D C C+ B
Earl is a pretty solid scorer with some upside. He might be able to be a nice bench scorer to backup Shaquille O'Neal and Alonzo Mourning.
24. Denver Nuggets (from the Detroit Pistons) - Luther Wright C 7'2'' 270 22 C+ D D- C+ C+ B
The Nuggets just go with a size/athleticism pick. Wright moves well, has amazing size and shows some things offensively sometimes, but overall hes been a bust. If he pans out he could be special though.
25. Philadelphia 76ers - Terry Dehere SG 6'2'' 190 22 C B C+ C D+ C
Dehere is a very nice shooter who can handle and pass a little. The Sixers need a backup PG and Dehere might fit that role perfectly.
26. New Orleans Hornets (from the Utah Jazz) - Geert Hammink C 7'0'' 262 24 C+ C D C C+ B
This is just a flier. Hammink hasnt shown much more then potential. Most GMs have given up hope but he shows glimmers here and there.
27. Indiana Pacers - Ed Stokes C 7'0'' 264 22 C+ D+ D+ C+ B- C
Stokes has very nice size and strength. A solid rebounder, Stokes could make the Pacers rotation and get 8-10 minutes a game as a rookie.
28. Cleveland Cavaliers (from the Los Angeles Lakers) - Greg Graham PG 6'4'' 174 22 C B- C+ C D+ C
Graham isn't gonna be more then a backup PG. He might have a little something extra in him offensively. He also has some nice size.
29. New Jersey Nets - Evers Burns PF 6'8'' 260 22 B- C- D+ C+ C+ C
At this point getting a player that can contribute off the bench is great. Burns doesn't have big upside and doesn't do any one thing great, but he can score and board a little. He may even have a little hidden potential and become a solid rotation player for his career.
Notes will be coming soon.
