***Ordered lazily. Studs in front, rest follow.
2021 Potential Free Agents: SF, SG, PG
The Small Forwards...
LeBron James
Current Team: Denver Nuggets
Age: 34
Ratings: A- A B+ B B C
Statistics: 38.1 MPG, 37.8 PPG, 10.2 RPG, 3.2 APG, 1.5 SPG, 2.1 BPG
The Pitbull Himself. Not many times does one get the chance to add the sharpest biting dog in the league for the price of essentially nothing. Sure he’s 34, but... actually fuck it. Who cares that he’s 34 when he averages 38 points, 10 rebounds, 1.5 steals and 2 blocks a game? I mean I ain’t saying that I’m giving him an all out max because that would be ridiculous but DAMN… I’m giving him a huge ass deal. Really I shouldn’t need to say much else. One of the best players to ever step foot on the BBSv4 court.
DeMar DeRozan
Current Team: Cleveland Cavaliers
Age: 30
Ratings: A- A- D C C C
Statistics: 37.4 MPG, 32.5 PPG, 6.3 RPG
DeMar Derozan is one of the major scoring dogs that we have in this league. GMs were skeptical of him before, but I believe he will be highly coveted should he test the market this year. In 37 minutes a game, the 30 year old is averaging a big time 32.5 points a game while shooting 50/90/40+. Nothing short of amazing, and that’s not including the fact that the guy never turns the ball over.
Ricky Roe
Current Team: New Orleans Hornets
Age: 24
Ratings: A- A A- C+ C- C
Statistics: 35 MPG, 22.2 PPG, 4.6 RPG, 3.9 APG
His scoring isn’t as dominant as I figured it would be considering the A- A ratings, but boy does this kid look great ratings wise. The fact that he’s aiight at rebounding and a good passer is just gravy. Roe should be able to lead the league in scoring one day. Just needs to get AC’d out. A huge target for every rebuilding team out there. I know I’m maxing him. Shit.
Julysses Hall
Current Team: Orlando Magic
Age: 24
Ratings: C+ C A- A- B B
Statistics: 38 MPG, 10.2 PPG, 10.1 RPG, 4.5 APG, 1.6 BPG
Hall can rebound, pass, block shots and steal the ball, but how impactful can a player be when he can’t score the ball? I mean he averages 10 points, decent, but that’s off of 36% FG, 67% FT and 11% 3PT. Word? The Magic have been thinking long and hard about possibly moving Hall to point guard and I can see why. If he can’t score for shit, may as well take advantage of his great passing and rebounding at the PG spot. The handles hit may be too much to make it worth it though. Anyway, Hall is a decent glue guy type I guess.
Gerald Wallace
Current Team: Philadelphia 76ers
Age: 37
Ratings: A- C D B+ C+ D
Statistics: 31.3 MPG, 19.4 PPG, 5.8 RPG, 2.5 BPG
This year marks the 2nd year of Wallace’s decline. That’s right – Wallace was a mega star all the way up until age 36 where he averaged under 30 points a game for the first time in damn near a decade. Well damn. Still pretty sick considering how old he is. 19 points, 6 rebounds and 2.5 blocks a game? That’s the kind of production any GM would like out of their small/power forward. Wallace will most likely retire this off-season.
Grant Nelson
Current Team: Washington Wizards
Age: 25
Ratings: B- C C A C+ B
Statistics: 21.4 MPG, 7.4 PPG, 4.6 RPG
I don’t know if I should be listing him, as there are many others with similar production that chose to keep off, but whatever… the A defense makes him look really good even though he doesn’t get any steals or blocks off of it. Extremely high perimeter defense is likely and will probably get him a good amount of looks.
C.J. Leslie
Current Team: Charlotte Bobcats
Age: 27
Ratings: B C+ B- A- C+ C
Statistics: 31.1.6 MPG, 12.5 PPG, 5.7 RPG, 3.9 APG, 1.6 BPG
Leslie is what one would hope a guy like Grant Nelson could become in the near future. Averaging just about 13 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists to go along with 1.6 blocks, Leslie is a really good glue guy/5th starter that can do a little bit of everything. He’s definitely more valuable to a good team and therefore will probably only receive MLE-type offers from good teams. Many one or two rebuilding teams try to sign and flip.
Elias Harris
Current Team: Detroit Pistons
Age: 30
Ratings: A- B- D+ B C+ C
Statistics: 31.7 MPG, 13.5 PPG, 5.5 RPG
Harris isn’t scoring as much in a big time minute role as I had thought but he’s still a good player. 13.5 points and 5.5 rebounds while shooting efficiently from the field is production that any team would like. Definitely more of a 6th man type than anything else though.
Sergio Bender
Current Team: Dallas Mavericks
Age: 24
Ratings: B B- B- A- C+ C
Statistics: 17 MPG, 6.8 PPG, 3.6 RPG
I figured Sergio Bender was worth a mention since he’s young and is putting up decent numbers in limited minutes (the 7 points in 17 minutes in particular). If he can develop into a C.J Leslie type or maybe even better, watch out. He should receive a good amount of looks because he’s certainly capable of becoming a very good glue guy on a good team.
Andrea Bargnani
Current Team: Minnesota Timberwolves
Age: 33
Ratings: B A- C C+ C+ C
Statistics: 17.3 MPG, 6.5 PPG, 4.4 RPG
Meh… he’s worth a mention. Pretty decent ratings, especially the B A- scoring. Decent numbers in limited minutes and last year he proved that he could be a contributor on a good team. Nice pick up here for the min or LLE. Maybe even the MLE if you feel you won’t get anything better.
P.J. Tucker
Current Team: Phoenix Suns
Age: 34
Ratings: B C D A B- C
Statistics: 32.9 MPG, 11.4 PPG, 7.3 RPG, 1.3 SPG
Tucker is a glue guy that has been there and done that as far as playing elite teams. The Suns have enjoyed his services for half a decade and will probably continue to do so as it would seem not many seem to value him much.
The Shooting Guards...
Allan Avery
Current Team: New Jersey Nets
Age: 24
Ratings: B+ A- C B- C B
Statistics: 36.1 MPG, 29.7 PPG, 4.8 RPG, 2.1 SPG
The improvement of this kid is nothing short of amazing. Going from a decent looking 28th pick to a 30 PPG scorer within a few years time is a once in a decade type of event. Shooting nearly 50/90/40, it’s clear that his true shooting ratings are off the charts. Expect a lot of max offers from rebuilding teams should he test FA. I know I’m in there with the max.
Tyson Jackson
Current Team: New York Knicks
Age: 23
Ratings: C+ A C A- C- B
Statistics: 28.0 MPG, 13 PPG, 3.4 RPG, 1.6 SPG
Jack is a solid shooting guard. Gettings you 13 points on good shooting while also contributing to the defensive side of things with 1.6 steals in limited minutes. Could be a nice starting shooting guard if he continues to develop.
Brandon Roy
Current Team: Chicago Bulls
Age: 35
Ratings: B B+ C+ B C- C
Statistics: 24.2 MPG, 9.5 PPG, 3.9 RPG
In spite of being old as hell, Roy is still worth a mention on this list. He’s sporting nice ratings and his numbers are nice too. 10 points and 4 boards in 24 minutes a game is definitely production that many teams would like out of their back up wings. It’s too bad he’s lost his ability to handle the point guard position or else he’d still be a true stud.
O.J. Mayo
Current Team: New Orleans Hornets
Age: 31
Ratings: B+ A- C+ C C C
Statistics: 29.1 MPG, 18.3 PPG, 5.2 RPG, 3 APG
He can’t defend. Never could in fact, but that didn’t stop him from getting a max deal coming off of his rookie year. Now at 31 years old, O.J. Mayo is a MLE guy that gives you 3rd/4th option type of scoring. 18 points to go along with 5 rebounds and 3 assists in just 29 minutes is incredible production considering the price it comes at. Should remain in the league for a long time if he can maintain his scoring ability.
James Harden
Current Team: Golden State Warriors
Age: 30
Ratings: B A- C B- D+ D
Statistics: 23.9 MPG, 12.9 PPG, 3.4 RPG, 1.2 SPG
Harden looked like he was going to be really good early in his career and then kinda fell into the shade of a guy that can put up numbers on bad teams. That’s not to say that he isn’t at least a serviceable wing player off the bench. The Warriors are helping to support that claim as Harden is averaging 13 points and a steal in just 24 minutes a game with them. Definitely worth a look with the MLE if you need a bench shooting guard.
Martell Webster
Current Team: Phoenix Suns
Age: 32
Ratings: B A- C C D+ D
Statistics: 39.2 MPG, 25.7 PPG, 4.8 RPG
His ratings are slowly declining but his numbers stay the same. Averaging nearly 26 points a game for a team like the Phoenix Suns, it’s safe to assume that the B A- scoring ratings feature a high B and/or high A-. With the C defense, D+ rebounding and D scouted pot, Martell looks rather unattractive. This is a good thing for the Suns as they may be able to retain him for cheap.
Kyle Singler
Current Team: Utah Jazz
Age: 31
Ratings: C A B C+ C+ D
Statistics: 34 MPG, 12.3 PPG, 6.6 RPG, 4.2 APG, 1.3 SPG
Why not? Ratings are decent and the numbers are too… the high turnovers kinda hurt, but if you omit that and look at the 12.3 points, 6.6 rebounds, 4.2 assists, you have yourself a solid 5th starter.
The Point Guards...
John Wall
Current Team: Cleveland Cavaliers
Age: 29
Ratings: A- A- A+ A+ D
Statistics: 38.7 MPG, 23 PPG, 7 RPG, 12.4 APG, 2.5 SPG
Wall is one of the biggest potential prizes in this upcoming free agency period. The 29 year old guard out of Kentucky has been having a bit of a down year scoring wise. However, he has countered that with a career high in both rebounds and assists per game so far. Not much else say. You know his name and you’ve seen his work.
Stephen Curry
Current Team: Memphis Grizzlies
Age: 31
Ratings: C+ A+ A- B C- C
Statistics: 36.2 MPG, 27.4 PPG, 10.1 APG, 1.8 SPG
Another one of the true dogs this league has to offer. Sign Curry in the off-season and you have a point guard that done done it all, seen it all. The 3-time Playoff MVP will most likely remain with the Grizzlies as they are sick (and the Grizzlies cannot afford to lose him), but should he decide to test… damn. Definitely worth a huge deal.
Chris Paul
Current Team: Dallas Mavericks
Age: 34
Ratings: A- C+ A+ C D- D
Statistics: 36.1 MPG, 20.4 PPG, 11.3 APG, 1.8 SPG
Still one of the best point guards in the league at age 34. Anyone who can nab this guy for cheap is getting a major steal.
LaDaniel Graham
Current Team: Toronto Raptors
Age: 23
Ratings: B+ B B B C+ C
Statistics: 36.9 MPG, 27.1 PPG, 6.7 RPG, 4.6 APG
Graham is an impressive big time scorer, albeit for a weak team. The fact that he’s even capable of putting up these numbers for any team shows that the kid got skills. Hard to predict what kind of offers he will receive though. He’s putting up max kind of numbers and his age is in favor of him but he doesn’t have max ratings. Then again I doubt he’s been shown any attention as far as ACs and such. We’ll have to see what happens with this guy.
Earl Dawson
Current Team: Houston Rockets
Age: 22
Ratings: B B- B+ A- C B
Statistics: 38.1 MPG, 19.1 PPG, 5.5 RPG, 8.1 APG, 2.5 SPG
I thought he would be better ratings wise but he’s a pretty good player. Definitely a better point guard than he is a shooting guard so that was a clutch switch by the Rockets and they were lucky that was even allowed in the first place. 19 points, nearly 6 rebounds, 8 assists and 2.5 steals? Nice. Will probably receive decent sized offers from rebuilding/young teams with cap.
Nick Calathes
Current Team: Los Angeles Lakers
Age: 30
Ratings: C A+ A- B- D C
Statistics: 38.2 MPG, 19.2 PPG, 9.8 APG, 1.5 SPG
The poor rebounding is only a tiny kink in Calathes armor as he provides excellent shooting, passing and stealing from the point guard position. There’s no reason why Calathes couldn’t be the starting point guard for an elite team. He’s very underrated across the league.
Greivis Vasquez
Current Team: Miami Heat
Age: 32
Ratings: B- A- B+ C C D
Statistics: 23.4 MPG, 11.0 PPG, 3.7 RPG
Not much to say about Vasquez other than he’s a proven shooter/scorer that is a threat as far as making plays for others.
Luis Nazario Hartley
Current Team: New York Knicks
Age: 22
Ratings: C+ B- A- A D B
Statistics: 38.4 MPG, 13.4 PPG, 8.5 APG, 2.5 SPG
Hartley is an interesting young point guard as he’s one of the few where his impact on the game is mostly felt on the defensive end. Not only does Hartley boast the big time steal numbers, but he’s also a great man defender. He chips in a decent amount of points and assists as well at 13.4 and 8.5 respectively. Should he become better with taking care of the ball, Hartley could become the best game manager PG in the league.
Dominique Jones
Current Team: Charlotte Bobcats
Age: 31
Ratings: B B B+ B- D+ D
Statistics: 33.7 MPG, 19.3 PPG, 3.6 APG
Looking at his numbers, it’s clear what Jones is on the court to do. Score. In fewer than 34 minutes a game, Jones averages 19 points and nearly 4 assists a game. Definitely worth a look for any team that’s looking for a big time scoring punch at the 1 and/or 2.
Broderick Hayes
Current Team: Chicago Bulls
Age: 25
Ratings: C- A- A- A- C B
Statistics: 35 MPG, 12.3 PPG, 5.7 RPG, 8.9 APG
Hayes stopped turning over the ball 5 times a game and suddenly looks a lot better as a result. The C- inside is ugly, but the A- across the outside/handle/defense board is sick and the fact that he’s capable of pulling down nearly 6 rebounds as a 1 is gravy w/ cranberry sauce. Another nice game managing type of guard here.
Tommy Mason-Griffin
Current Team: Milwaukee Bucks
Age: 28
Ratings: C A A- C D D
Statistics: 19.3 MPG, 7.1 PPG, 4.3 APG
7 points and 4 assists in just 19 minutes a game? Talk about getting the most out of your ratings. Nice back up 1 here.
Isaac Woods
Current Team: Denver Nuggets
Age: 23
Ratings: B B+ C+ B- C+ C
Statistics: 20.3 MPG, 9.7 PPG, 3.4 RPG, 3.4 APG
Why not? He’s slowly but surely been developing and he has nice numbers to boot. Could end up being a pretty good player with more minutes and some AC attention.
Alexey Shved
Current Team: Houston Rockets
Age: 31
Ratings: C+ A B- A- C D
Statistics: 28.9 MPG, 12.5 PPG, 4.5 RPG, 3.7 APG, 1.8 SPG
Alexey got his job taken over by Dawson but he’s still managed to put up some good numbers in relatively limited minutes. The stealing numbers in particular are most impressive. Nearly 2 a game in 29 minutes? Add in the 13.5 points, 4/5 rebounds and just about 4 assists and you have a nice 6th man guard.
Seth Curry
Current Team: Minnesota Timberwolves
Age: 29
Ratings: B- B+ B+ B D C
Statistics: 25 MPG, 8.7 PPG, 6.4 APG
Wanted to put his brother (or is it cousin?) up here because I can. He ain’t the best guard in the world but he’s certainly worthy of a back up spot as a shooter/passer.
La’Shon Lesser
Current Team: New Orleans Hornets
Age: 25
Ratings: B C A A D C
Statistics: 37.5 MPG, 14.5 PPG, 3.6 RPG, 8.1 APG, 2.9 SPG
La’Shon Lesser is the 3rd of the game-managing PG group that features Broderick Hayes and Luis Nazario Hartley. His numbers are about the same as the aforementioned. He can’t rebound like Hayes and can’t shoot from outside like Hartley but he does take care of the ball far better than each of them.
Darren Collison
Current Team: San Antonio Spurs
Age: 32
Ratings: C+ A- A+ B+ C D
Statistics: 20 MPG, 6.2 PPG, 3.3 RPG, 4.2 APG
Sick ratings, sick numbers in limited minutes. Certainly worth a look by any team.
Darian McCutchan
Current Team: Golden State Warriors
Age: 23
Ratings: C+ B+ B+ A+ C B
Statistics: 36.2 MPG, 12.2 PPG, 5 RPG, 7.3 APG, 2.4 SPG
And yet another game managing PG. All from the same draft too? This is crazy. Actually now that I think about it… what the fuck is a game managing PG?
Rajon Rondo
Current Team: Phoenix Suns
Age: 33
Ratings: B- C+ A A- C D
Statistics: 22.5 MPG, 9.6 PPG, 4 RPG, 5.5 APG, 1.2 SPG
10 points, 4 rebounds, nearly 6 assists and a steal in just 23 minutes of play? Enough said.
