College: Miami
Height: 6'8
Weight: 228
Position:SF
Draft Ratings: C A- D+ C+ C+ B
Overview:
Inside: Ostling is a decent athlete, he can jump, but its not impressive at all. However, he is pretty strong, but is only ok at best at getting shots inside and making them.
Outside: This is where Ostling gets all his offense. he is a deadeye three point marksman, but struggles with his FT's. He settles for off balance midrange shots, and is much more comfortable taking the step back to the three point line and firing.
Handles: Ostling is slow, there is no getting around that...he is probably slow for a PF even. He isnt bad at taking care of the ball, but he isnt necessarily any good either, averaging 1.5 a game at Miami, but, he wasnt really a main scoring guy.
Defense: Ostling may be slow and unathletic, but, he has an amazing knack for shotblocking, in large part due to his crazy wingspan, at 7'5" He really isnt much of a defender outside coming over and getting the weakside blocked shot. He struggles massively in the post, which hurts him as a possible PF, and he struggles on the perimeter...his speed is a huge hinderance. He doesnt get steals either.
Rebounding: Despite his lack of quickness, Ostling is at least a solid rebounder. He utilizes his strength well, and reads the ball well through the air so he can head to the landing spot. His long wingspan definitely helps here.
Outlook: His quickness, or lack thereof, will be a sever hinderance to him at the next level, but, he does have a good shot at being an excellent role player. His shotblocking will be coveted, though it will require teams to overlook serious weaknesses elsewhere.
