Dean Hollis
Height: 6'10"
Weight: 220
Position: SF
Age: 20
College: Notre Dame
Bio: Considered the Great White Hope. Compares favorably to Larry Bird, while others compare him to Keith Van Horn and Adam Morrison. "That's the stupidest thing that I've ever heard," said Notre Dame head coach Mike Brey. "Hughes is by far the most talented player in Notre Dame basketball history and is the most coachable player I've had the pleasure of teaching."
Hollis is a complete player who excels everywhere on the court. He is the ultimate competitor and professional, but he has some negative attributes that some GMs may flag.
Strengths: An incredible jump shooter and creative, finesse player when going to the basket. Hollis has an array of moves and is a cerebral player. He is a coach's son and it shows. He knows the fundamentals and ins and outs of the game. He is a plus rebounder and a crisp passer, who takes good care of the ball. There are very few things on the court that he can't do. He is an excellent perimeter defender who gives opposing players headaches. He is a matchup nightmare at 6'10" as a small forward.
Weaknesses: Hollis isn't the best when it comes to steals and blocks, but will occasionally surprise in that department due to his sheer competitiveness. He is not overly athletic and can get beaten off the dribble occasionally by faster players. His athleticism is the biggest worry about his game at the next level.
Outlook: Hollis is viewed as a can't-miss player. He can do a little bit of everything and does it well. However, the same could be said for Keith Van Horn and Adam Morrison. While most compare him to Larry Bird, it will be interesting to see if he maximizes or minimizes his potential.
