Marquez Lynch
Height: 6'5
Weight: 232 lbs
Position: SG/SF
College: Providence
Age: 22
Ratings: B C+ C A- C B
College Career:
Lynch has had a pretty good four year career at Providence. He has evolved from a young inconsistent Freshman to a steady hard-nosed Senior. He scored 23ppg during his Senior year and showed that he can go head to head with any player in the country. He was First-Team All-Big East this year, which says quite a bit about his ability. What Lynch was really known for however, was his defense. He is a three time Big East All-Defensive 1st team player.
Pros:
The best part about Lynch is obviously his defense. He is a fantastic man to man defender and can lock down the best offensive players. He can get steals, but it is not really his main strength. He is also a very strong player who can attack the basket with the best of them. He has a good midrange game and is very reliable from the foul line. He's not a big TO guy but that doesn't mean he won't make mistakes. Lynch is also a very good rebounder for someone his size.
Cons:
The big knock on Lynch is his potential. Pretty much this is the player he is going to be. The only area where I see any chance for improvement is in his 3-point game. Right now he's not much of an offensive threat outside of 18 feet. In college he was stronger and faster than most other players, in BBS this won't be the case.
Overall:
Lynch is the type of player that could go in the middle of the lotto to a team that needs help right away, or he could slide down the board to the mid teens. He is a very good player and could start right away on most teams in the league. Whoever drafts him should know that they are getting a lock-down defender who will not really contribute too much offensively. He has some potential, but don't expect any explosive gains out of him.
