A.J Perkins
6'9 207 SF
Illinois
20 years old
Ratings: B+ B D+ C+ C+ A
Strengths: We have never seen a scorer like A.J. Perkins enter the BBS before. Known simply as "smooth," Perkins can score anyway he wants. He has a little bit of Carmelo Anthony and Kevin Durant in him, but has better athleticism than either of them. Perkins has an excellent face up game and a solid post game as well. While he currently lacks strength and weight, Perkins can get to the rim at will and has a killer fadeaway jumpshot from the post. He is a great jumper and is a highlight reel waiting to happen. Perkins also has unlimited range and a developing mid range game. In college, he shot 42% from 3 and 73% from the line. Defensively, Perkins is not totally lost. He can get maybe a steal and one block per game. Perkins' athleticism also makes him a terrific offensive rebounder. Perkins is reasonably fast.
Weaknesses: Perkins' one weakness is a killer: turnovers. Not only is Perkins not a willing passer, but he is incredibly turnover prone. In college, he averaged more turnovers than assists. He does not like getting teammates involved and should have major problems with turnovers on the next level. Perkins is also not known for his post defense or perimeter defense and could gain some strength and weight.
Overall: Should be an A- A or A A- scorer, but how much will his turnovers affect him in the BBS?
College Stats: 31.7 ppg 7.8 rpg 2.4 apg 3.8 topg 52% fg 73% ft 42% 3pt
