You know the saying you cant teach height? well, that is the reason Caldwell even sniffs a spot in BBS. At 7'8" Caldwell is a gargantuan player, and towers over other prospects. However, Caldwell hasnt been playing basketball all that long, and looks lost out on the court.
Scouts Breakdown:
Inside: Caldwell has no inside game, he isnt a great jumper, and isnt particularly strong. He will be useless offensively at the next level.
Outside: Caldwell has no ability outside at all.
Handles:
Caldwell has actually developed into a decent passer despite his 7'8" size. He struggles to take care of the ball though from time to time, also he is quite slow...ok really really slow.
Defense:
Caldwell is 7'8", which obviously gives him a huge advantage on the defensive end of the court, he isnt particularly great at positional defense, but, he will block shots, and has a surprising knack for stealing the ball. Pretty easily outmuscled in the post and can be susceptible to foul troubles
Rebounding:
Caldwell is a very nice defensive rebounder, his offensive rebounding however is another story entirely. If he has position already he doesnt have much issue maintaining position and pulling down the board, but, on the offensive glass he is rarely in position and so is pretty useless.
Potential:
Caldwell is Amazingly Raw, Scouts think his potential is through the roof, but he literally has NO offense whatsoever, and being so raw this worries scouts..he will never really be much more than a defensive Center type, and his offensive worries may prevent him from ever becoming a starter. Should be an excellent backup off the bench though if only because of his stealing and shotblocking.
Best Case Scenario:
C D B- A A-
More Likely:
C- D- C+ A B+
