Alex Jackson
Height: 6'5
Weight: 208 lbs
Position: PG
Age: 21
College: University of California Los Angeles
Ratings: B+ C B C+ C A
College Career: Jackson came to UCLA as a rather heralded recruit and did not disappoint. He was a star among stars at one of the countries most historic programs. He was a leader and led to UCLA to two NCAA Final Four appearances in his career. Jackson has the reputation as a fearless leader who will win at any costs. He is super competitive and has improved his jumpshot from terrible to above average while at UCLA. While at UCLA he spent his summers learning from former UCLA stars Darren Collison and Jrue Holiday. Both have had nothing but positive things to say about him and there have even been reports that Jackson more than held his own in the famous California summer pick up games that include many former and current NBA players.
Pros: Jackson is a tremendous athlete. He is extremely fast and can jump out of the gym. He is an excellent finisher and can go to the hoop almost at will. He has a good jump shot, and is able to score a lot of points from midrange. He's a decent defender and has the ability to get steals. Jackson also has good court vision and should be a high assist guy in time.
Cons: The big knock on Jackson right now is his TO's. He makes a lot of tremendous plays, but he also makes quite a few mistakes. He will need to continue to improve his 3-point shot if he wants to be a top level guard at the next level. His man-to-man defense could still use some improvement as he more often than not focus on the big play (steals or blocks) rather than sticking to his man.
Overall: Jackson is a star, no doubt about it. He was tremendous on the collegiate level, and will be great as a pro. His big problem is his TO's, but I think that is something he will eventually be able to limit. He makes big plays and will no doubt rack up assists. He still needs to improve his 3-point shot in order to stretch the floor. He does have an excellent midrange game though.
