Devon Peterson
6'5 205
PG
Cincinnati
21 years old
Ratings: C A- C B+ C B
Overview: After two suspect years at the University of Cincinnati, Peterson finally broke out in his junior year after the team moved him from shooting guard to point guard. Peterson was in contention for National player of the year honors, and averaged 23/5/5 on 50% shooting on the season. Peterson was a highly touted recruit coming out of high school, but was thought to be done after two horrible years as a freshman and sophomore. Now, after his great junior season, Peterson is looked at as a potential lottery pick.
IN--Devon is extremely athletic. He is a solid jumper and has good strength. He does have trouble finishing around the basket, and his game is predicated around his outside shot, even with his athletic gifts. Not a good inside scorer.
OUT--Peterson has a smooth stroke. He's one of those guys with unlimited range, who can just flick a 30 footer and it looks effortless. He is a fantastic three point shooter and a good mid range shooter.
Handles--Peterson has always been able to protect the ball, which is why he was moved to point guard. He is a below average passer by BBS standards, as he prefers to create offense for himself than others. He has average quickness for a 2, so he is not especially quick for a point guard/
Defense--Peterson's strength really helps him against point guards, and he is a good perimeter defender. Should get close to 1.5 steals per game. He's a good defender but isn't special in that regard.
Rebounding--Rebounds like a shooting guard. Should get around 5 a game, and will notch the occasional triple double. Better defensive rebounder than offensive rebounder
Upside--Decent upside, but definitely not other worldly. Peterson is pretty polished already and doesn't seem like he wants to transform his game into a more unselfish PG.
Overall--Should be a very good player who sims well. Sort of similar to Devereux St. Cloud in the last BBS. Top 8 pick.
