Benjamin Taft
Age: 25
Point Guard
6'5"
210 lbs.
Brigham Young
Rookie Ratings:
B- C- A- B+ C+ C
Strengths:
-Very tall for a pg
-A tremendous rebounder for a pg .
-very good passer.
-makes few bad decisions with the ball.
- quick hands lead to steals.
- strong for a pg.
Weaknesses:
-limited shooting range.
-slow for a pg. has a hard time staying between quick point guards and the basket
- Unlikely to improve
Overall:
Benjamin is a Morman and has been on a mission overseas teaching basketball in third world countries the past few years so he is coming into the league late. He has kept in shape but what you see is what you get. He won't improve very much, if at all. Offensively he has very limited shooting range and even as a starter will struggle to score double digits. Defenders sag off him. He doesn't take the challenge and will rarely ever shoot a three. His height and strength allow him to back down point guards in order to get close to the basket and either shoot or pass. Rarely turns the ball over and almost always makes the right decision with the ball, which in his case is usually to pass. His rebounding, especially his offensive rebounding, is tremendous for a guard. In his senior year in BYU he averaged 8.7 pts, 8.9 assists and 8.1 rebounds. He could develop into a triple double machine if a team allows him to start. Defensively he is a good position defender and has quick hands but he is slow and the quicker pgs go around him easily.
